In spite of trends which favor corporations, (haphazard teams of nameless, faceless outsiders carelessly handling precious details), we remain a strong, vibrant group of local musicians. We’re real people; we’re not afraid to attach our names to our work.

We live in the communities we serve. We know local venues well and care about cultivating relationships with other professionals. We are honored by every booking, and can be trusted to deliver excellence.

We are consistent: we’ve enjoyed playing a part in beautiful events in the Poconos, the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, and Northeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond!) for decades.

Ellen loves playing her carbon fiber cello for outdoor events!

Today’s Penn Strings wedding featured live music in the vineyard. Our couple chose a String Duo to perform their favorite songs for their outdooor ceremony, followed by their cocktail hour in the barrel room at Folino Estate Winery.

Behind the scenes: What do the musicians of Penn Strings do when they’re not performing at weddings?

A LOT of playing at other events and venues!

Here we see Takeshi (violin/viola) and Tom (guitar) at the Civic Theater in Allentown during a run of the musical Evita!

We love making music! And we love being involved in a show or a symphony orchestra. It all informs our event work. We take pride in how experienced our musicians are!

This beautiful and emotionally-charged melody was composed by Kris Bowers for the Netflix series Queen Charlotte. It has been newly arranged for Piano Trio by our very own @scottcbesser

Gloria and Sam chose to feature this gorgeous piece for Gloria’s ceremony entrance… and there wasn’t a dry eye in the garden after that poignant moment!

When it comes to event planning, details are everything. That’s why having a dedicated team to handle your wedding music is quite a valuable asset!

Truth be told, we owe much of our success to our detail-oriented coordinators, (mother-and-daughter-team) Susanne Wilson and Bevin Potts.

Susanne and Bevin are the forward-facing team members who handle all communication with clients and venues, contracts and bookings, scheduling and coordinating with musicians, account management, and music selection… and they do it all with grace and skill.

Everyone who communicates with Susanne immediately gets the sense that she cares deeply about our couples. She and Bevin are the first to honor each unique love story that comes our way. They are focused on developing a custom playlist for every event through clear and consistent communication. This service is automatically included with every Penn Strings booking.
