On this day, 29 years ago, Washington DC native Penny Toler scored the first basket in WNBA history for the LA Sparks, forever etching her name in the books. A record that quite literally no one else can beat.

As the GM for nearly 20 years of the LA Sparks, she was responsible drafting some of our favorite hoopers to the league and winning the ONLY championships to date for the Sparks. 3 of them thangs! 🏆🏆🏆

Auntie Penny is what we call her here at the Can’t Retire Project, and today, we give her ALL HER DESERVED FLOWERS 💐🌻🌺
