“The rattle of the jackhammers.” A moment from The Year of Silence, for singing narrator and orchestra, with text adapted from Kevin Brockmeier’s story about a city that goes silent for a year.

Dashon Burton, baritone. Louisville Orchestra, conducted by Teddy Abrams. Prepared piano, scratching strings, and breathy brass turn the orchestra into a construction site before it dissolves into a warm, enveloping quiet.
