Rest in peace Grandma Gloria Arellanes. Thank you for all that you taught us over the years. It was an honor to have you as our elder, to learn from your struggles and to share with you your joys. taken in El Monte, California by @peoplescafe.la

On Saturday, November 14th, from 6 pm to 10 pm, CASA will host Noche de Testimonios, an inaugural celebration and fundraiser to commemorate the completion of the first Testimonios Workshop this past summer. For the past several months, the Workshop has trained an inaugural cohort of six participants in oral history methods and artistic production, with financial support from Stanford University’s Vice Provost for Graduate Education. Hailing from across Greater Los Angeles, the Testimonios cohort members have conducted over 30 oral interviews across the region. At Noche de Testimonios, the workshop members will reflect on their experiences and present six art exhibitions featuring the testimonios of migrants and members of the diaspora in the San Gabriel Valley and Greater Los Angeles.

The event will also include a keynote address by Chicana scholar, artist, activist, and musician Dr. Martha Gonzalez @marthartivista , folkloric performances by @malditasmacheteras , and Son Jarocho music by Son del Este.

Through this event—the first of many that CASA intends to host—we hope to bring together Greater Los Angeles’s scholarly and organizing communities to celebrate and sustain oral history, testimonio, and memory in our neighborhoods.

Entry includes dinner and a beverage made by @peoplescafe.la. All funds raised will support CASA’s cultural and arts programming and future iterations of the Testimonios Workshop, which is free for participants and includes a stipend and project fund.

Come try our salads! Formerly known as "Kill Ceasar", we decided to keep things family friendly and honor the original people of the land where the Ceasar salad was invented, Tijuana, MX.

Free the Land is our homage to the continental struggle for tierra y libertad/land and freedom. We merge our Indigenous foods by incorportating quinoa from the Andean homelands and local ingredients.

Each bite tells a story.
Come try one day.

✨in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day we are starting an Indigenous language classes @memoriesofelmonte starting Sunday, October 11 at 12pm-2pm ✨ erasing Indigenous people’s languages has been one way/tool of breaking our spirits & ancestral lineages by settler colonialism. By reclaiming it we resist & stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples across the hemisphere. 🪴🐌✨ #populareducation by @peoplescafe.la
