A soft place to come home to.

A contemporary family villa just outside Ljubljana, designed around warmth, calm and everyday life.

Soft lines, natural tones and carefully selected materials create a home where our client and her three daughters can slow down after a busy day.

Almost finished — just a few final details to go.

Glass blocks as spatial filters —
material that defines without enclosing.

Glass blocks are returning as a deliberate architectural gesture rather than a nostalgic reference.

Reintroduced as partitions, they offer a specific kind of spatial logic — one that sits between solidity and transparency. They define boundaries without fully enclosing space, allowing rooms to remain connected while still gaining structure and hierarchy.

What makes them relevant again is not only their material presence, but their behaviour: they diffuse light, soften views, and introduce a controlled ambiguity between inside and outside, private and shared, open and defined.

In contemporary interiors, they function as more than a surface. They become a filter — transforming direct light into something slower, more atmospheric, more spatially aware.

A material that divides, but also connects.

⬅️ Inspiration

Checkerboard is a timeless pattern with a long history in design. The motif transcends trends as an enduring design element. Recently, the high-contrast grid, reminiscent of a chessboard, is once again in the spotlight—this time in the form of paint, textiles, wallpaper, and ceramics.

I n s p o ➡️

However, the checkerboard motif has recently stepped into the spotlight as the check of the moment. The classic staggered arrangement of black and white squares, reminiscent of a chessboard, is once again popping up across flooring, textiles, wallpaper, and more…
