Turned all of the best of our spares into a ap1.5 / ap2 hybrid gearbox.

Ap1 ratios 1-6 but with ap2 carbon synchros 3rd to 6th gears and ap2 reduction gear set.

Full OEM rebuild kit, upgraded detent spring kit and Cryo + Iso treated synchro hub assemblies, oh and let's not forget the spoon gearbox casings.

Yes this was once a spoon blueprinted gearbox, one of two we have laid hands on over the years.

Quite a cool and rare gearbox.

I decided to test out some theories on my spare ap2 gearbox that had 3000 KMs on it, was a strange feeling to pull apart such a low KMs gearbox but very educational.

My f20c swapped ae85 had a ap2 transmission in it but the gearing wasn't great with the 4.9 final drive in the r200 diff in the Silvia rear subframe that is swapped onto this little beast.

So I decided to take my spare low KMs ap2 transmission and build a hybrid gearbox using ap1 3-4th gears for the double cone synchros and the ap1 1.16 reduction gear over the ap2 1.208.

While it was apart I got all the internals micro polished and Cryo treated, full rebuild kit, installed upgraded detent kit and added a set of WPC and DLC coated release bearing guide and clutch fork kit.

Gearbox turned out great and the gearing is also alot better now, still need to do a bit more testing and setting up on the car but it's definitely an awesome combination, high reving, light weight and independent suspension all round.

$Finally found some time to assemble the PPG gearset into our spare AP2 gearbox housing. Managed to get our hands on a damaged PPG dog gear set thanks to @lonewolfracing_ , after some replacement parts from @pfitznerperformancegearbox , some Laser welding, superfinishing and stealth coating by Darren this set is now good as new and ready to be driven in anger again. Built this bad boy with a full OEM rebuild kit, plus our full detent kit and tidied up the AP2 housings in the media blasting cabinet. For those with keen eyes you might spot the welded pins on the selector shafts, for the rest of you there is a zoomed in image. The OEM roll pins were removed and solid ground finish pins were welded in, this was part of the reason for the damage to the gearset before we got our hands on it, can't have that happing again. Once the f22c is assembled this will make its way into the shop car. #honda #hondas2000 #hondas2k #s2000 #s2000nation #s2000gram #s2000society #s2ki #s2k #s2knation #s2kgram #ap1 #ap2 #f20 #f20c #f22 #f22c #f24 #pfitznerperformancegearbox #ppg #likenew #stronger #racecar #raceready #dogbox by @pepperperformancenz$

Been out of action for a few months due to an injury, but getting back into it.

Kicked things off with a diff build for a customer in the south island building a s2000 race car.
He already has one of our gearboxes and wanted to give the differential some attention.

Customer provided a 4.777 ring and pinion as well as a @quaifeeng ATB LSD.

We added a set of @powerneedy billet bearing caps with @arpbolts.
Complete factory Honda rebuild kit: bearings seals, drive washer and locking nut.
Solid pinion spacer machined to suit.
Finished it off with a coat of paint on the casing and drive flange.

Customer did not supply the rear cover due to it being modified for more oil capacity.

This should keep the car turning out laps without issues.

Two engines we built up for two customers recently.

First was a f24 with lower 10:1 compression, using a modified k24 crank, f24 specific rods, low compression wösner pistons @aclraceseries bearings.
Block was drysleeved using @dartonsleeves and a custom upper cylinder wall brace.
Added a @aredrysump dry sump kit, finished off with a ported head held together held on by @arpbolts head studs, with @supertechperformance valve springs kit, @exedyclutch hyper single clutch and a freshly powder coated valve cover.
This bad boy will be turning laps in @plaisiermelvin BMW racecar soon.

The second engine was a hi compression 11.8:1 f20c.
The block got the same darton sleeve and cylinder brace treatment.
Wösner pistons, @maxspeedingrods, ARP head stud kit, @toda_racing_japan valve springs and a Toda clutch.
Customer supplies a modified OEM oil pan as this one is going into a ford escort race car.

Two quite different engines, going into two completely different cars.

Another gearbox build for an awesome wee race car.

F20c swapped BMW e46 316i facelift hatch.
We certainly have some creative f series enthusiast in New Zealand.

Customer requested a spare gearbox for his car just in case.
We started with one of our spare low Kms ap1 gearboxes. Stripped it down, inspected and rebuild with one of your honda rebuild kits which we keep in stock.
We added a set of new cryo treated and iso finished synchro sets for smooth operation.
Added a set of our detent springs including the updated internal spring for better shifting, less chance of miss shifts and to help those synchros last even longer.
Topped off with Motul gear 300 for lap after lap of trouble free racing.

Hope this keeps your amazing build going for many races to come @plaisiermelvin

S2000 tct's back in stock!

Haven't done a batch of these in a while, had a few requests lately so got more knocked out.

Depending on how soon these go out will do another asap.

These are the same version 3 units that we have been doing for the past 2 plus years, which includes:

Modified tct body (version 1)
Stronger internal spring (version 2)
Modified piston (version 3)

Only difference being an improved spring design over our older spring.
There was nothing wrong with the old spring, we were out of stock and had to get more made, so we tweeked the design in the process.

Some of these are already spoken for but if anyone needs one get in touch.

Another flood damaged rebuild.
Once again more water than oil came out when draining the old fluid.

Car will be getting k24 swapped and will be turned into a race car.
With that in mind we swapped to a Cryo and iso finished 4.44 final drive.
Added a Cusco 1.5way plate LSD.
Solid pinion spacer with stronger bearing cap bolts, with a complete OEM rebuild kit.

@ccabah time to get the car going ;-)

From flood damaged to kswap race car ready. @ccabah

Gearbox had a lot more water in it than oil it came out of a written off flood damaged car that will soon be turned into a race car.

Stripped it all down, inspected and replaced a few gears, synchros and components showings signs of corrosion.
Tidied up the casings.
Iso finished and Cryo treated most of the internal components.
Completed install with our gearbox spring kit and a OEM rebuild kit.

Ready to rip some VTEC.

Now to do the diff . . . . TBC.

Boosted f24 vs OEM diff.

To be fair it held up well for a while but it was inevitable.

RIP, we will rebuild it better and stronger for the customer.

Bit of carnage on @alexpirlea_96 old transmission.

This gearbox went through hell and held up well . . . till it didn't.
Did pretty well for a high KMs stock Ap1 transmission though.

Initial issues started with not being able to select 6th gear as you can see in the synchro pictures the inner synchro hub was so burred that the outer synchro ring could not slide over it to select the gear.

It only got worse when 3rd reached its limited and let go, whether this was caused by the oil pump letting go and things started to hot or the parts of 3rd killed the oil pump we will never know.
The secondary reduction gear and shaft had alot of damage most likely from parts of the oil pump teeth.

This all lead to 4th partially letting go after more sending once the above damage was done, looks like this failure was probably due to stray metal probably getting between the gears.

To top it all off the retaining ring for the counter shaft pulled out of the bellhousing.

All in all not alot left here than can ever be used again, but it was worth it right, @alexpirlea_96 ?
