You probably already know a lot of the things you should be doing.

That’s usually not the problem.

The interesting part is what happens between knowing what you want… and actually being able to show up that way when it matters.

That’s where I work.

I use hypnosis, self-hypnosis, NLP, awareness and performance work to help people understand the patterns running underneath the surface, change the ones that aren’t helping, and strengthen the ones that are.

The goal isn’t to become some manufactured “better version” of yourself.

It’s to unlock your real potential by finding your true strength.

More confidence.
More clarity.
More control over your own state.
More ability to actually be yourself when it counts.

This account is where I’ll be exploring all of that — along with the strange, fascinating ways our minds influence what we do, what we believe and what we think we’re capable of.

So I’ll start with a question:

What keeps getting in your way?

DM me your answer. I’m genuinely interested.

Your nervous system doesn’t always need a long meditation.

Sometimes it needs 90 seconds and a pattern interrupt.

This is a quick reset I use to break the momentum of stress, clear some of the mental noise, and deliberately shift into a different state.

The important part is the anchor.

When you feel the shift, press your thumb and finger together. You’re pairing a physical cue with the state you’re creating.

Practice it enough and that little gesture becomes a reminder to your nervous system:

We’ve been here before. We know how to get back.

Your state isn’t just something that happens to you.

It’s something you can learn to influence.

Save this reel and try it when you actually need it.

You think hypnosis doesn’t work?

Then explain why the biggest companies in the world spend billions learning how to influence your attention, emotions, habits, and decisions.

Repetition. Association. Emotional triggers. Social proof. Reward loops.

Call it marketing. Call it behavioural psychology. Call it conditioning.

The point is: your mind is constantly learning from what you repeatedly see, hear, feel and do.

So here’s the better question:

What happens when you start using those same principles intentionally — on yourself?

To build confidence.
Change habits.
Train focus.
Shift the way you automatically respond.

Your mind is programmable.

Who’s the programmer?

Follow @Performance.Mindsets — I’m going to show you how this stuff actually works.

What if something this simple could change how strongly you feel something? 👆

Hypnotist Mike Mandel has shared that tapping helped him become pain-free after years of fibromyalgia. That’s his personal experience—not proof that tapping cures fibromyalgia—but it raises an interesting question:

What happens when YOU try it?

Pick something you can feel right now—stress, anxiety, tension, discomfort, an ache, even a craving.

Rate it 0–10.

Follow the tapping in the video.

Then check the number again.

Tapping combines focused attention with repetitive sensory stimulation, which may help reduce the intensity of what you’re experiencing.

Don’t believe it because someone tells you it works.

Experiment with your own mind and body.

👇 If you tried it, comment your BEFORE → AFTER number.

Save this for the next time you actually need it.

I recently recommended that a client put IFS down for a while.

Not because I think Internal Family Systems is a bad model.

Actually, the opposite.

It can be incredibly useful to recognize:

“This reaction is happening within me. It isn’t all of me.”

But sometimes a useful map can become something we start living inside.

Every emotion becomes a part.
Every reaction gets a character.
Every internal conflict requires another internal conversation.

For this client, I felt it was time to move toward something different:

Integration.

Notice the part.
Listen to what it’s trying to communicate.
Understand why it showed up.

But remember—you are bigger than any single reaction, role or protective pattern.

Sometimes the next stage of the work isn’t discovering another part.

It’s being able to say:

“I hear you. And I’ll take it from here.”

Have you ever had a practice or framework that helped you tremendously… until eventually you needed to put it down?

Your best self isn’t gone when you’re triggered.

You’ve just temporarily lost access to that state.

In Part 1, we named the version that showed up.

Now comes the counterintuitive part:

Don’t think your way back. Move your body there first.

Remember yourself at your most grounded, courageous and clear.

How do you breathe?
How do you hold your shoulders?
Where do you look?
How quickly do you move and speak?

For three seconds, become that physiology.

Then let your mind catch up.

The reactive part doesn’t need to be destroyed, suppressed or argued with. You can acknowledge it without handing it the microphone.

“I hear you. But I’ll take it from here.”

Try it the next time you’re triggered and tell me what changes.

You’ve done the work. You’ve grown. You’re more aware.

And then someone says the one thing… and suddenly an older version of you is running the show.

That doesn’t erase your growth.

The trick is learning to recognize who showed up.

The Defender.
The Controller.
The Wounded Kid.
The version of you that learned a long time ago how to survive that feeling.

Don’t fight them. Name them.

Because the moment you can observe the reaction, you’ve already created a little space between you and the pattern.

Then ask:

“Who do I want answering this?”

And strangely enough… don’t answer that question.

Part 2 is what you do next.

Save this for the next time you get triggered. 🧠

Not every thought deserves your full attention.

That voice saying:

“You’re going to screw this up.”

“You’re not ready.”

“You can’t do this.”

We tend to focus on WHAT the voice is saying.

But try changing HOW your mind says it.

Move it farther away.
Turn the volume down.
Speed it up.
Give it a ridiculous cartoon voice.

Then notice what happens to the feeling.

This is one of the interesting ideas explored in NLP: changing the way we internally represent an experience can change our response to it.

Your thoughts can show up without automatically becoming instructions.

Try the experiment and comment: did the feeling change?

The emotion isn’t usually the problem.

It’s what happens in the first few seconds after it hits.

Someone pushes the right button and suddenly you’re arguing, sending the text, raising your voice, or saying something you wish you could take back.

The goal isn’t to become emotionless.

It’s to become harder to hijack.

Next time you feel yourself getting triggered:

Exhale slowly.
Relax your jaw.
Drop your shoulders.
Give yourself 3 seconds.

That tiny gap is where reaction becomes choice.

You don’t have to control the emotion.
Control what happens next.

Save this for the next time someone gets under your skin.

Matt Damon smoked for years before reportedly using hypnosis to quit. 🚭

And his story highlights something important about habits:

Eventually, you’re not really deciding anymore.

Coffee → cigarette.
Stress → cigarette.
Drink → cigarette.

The brain learns the pattern until the trigger itself starts producing the urge.

But here’s the useful part:

Anything your brain learned through repetition can be given a new pattern.

Identify one trigger behind a habit you want to change.

Then decide—in advance—what happens instead.

Stress → 3 slow breaths.
Boredom → stand up and move.
Craving → water and a 2-minute delay.

Repeat the replacement until the new response starts becoming automatic.

You don’t always need more willpower.

Sometimes you need to rewrite the association.

Save this and try it with one habit this week.

Follow @Performance.Mindsets for more ways to become the programmer of your own mind.

Steve Jobs understood something most of us forget:

Thinking harder isn’t always the answer.

Jobs practiced meditation and described how, as the mind quiets down, intuition becomes clearer.

Hypnosis works with a similar idea: sometimes the state you’re thinking from matters as much as what you’re thinking about.

Next time you’re stuck, try this:

Close your eyes.
Take 3 slow breaths.
Stop forcing the solution.

Then ask yourself:

“If I already knew the answer… what would come to mind?”

Notice what appears before you start analyzing it.

A word. An image. A feeling. An unexpected idea.

Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t hiding behind more thought.

It’s waiting behind a different state of mind.

Save this and try it the next time you’re stuck. 🧠

Mike Tyson didn’t just train his punches. 🥊

Cus D’Amato understood that before Tyson could become a champion physically, he had to become one mentally.

Hypnosis and suggestion were reportedly part of that training—building confidence, controlling fear, and reinforcing the identity Tyson carried into the ring.

And that’s the part most people miss.

Every time you imagine yourself failing, freezing or screwing something up, you’re rehearsing an identity too.

So flip the script:

Who would you need to become for the thing you’re afraid of to feel natural?

How would that version of you stand?
Breathe?
Speak?
Move?

Practice that person before you need them.

Don’t just rehearse what you’re going to do.

Rehearse who you’re going to be.

Follow @Performance.Mindsets for practical ways to train the mind behind the performance.
