COACHES – ACTION REQUIRED

The Top 4 athletes in each division have now been invited to compete in the inaugural Pathway Fight Series Final on Saturday, 7 November.

We are currently receiving a number of bounced emails due to incorrect or outdated email addresses.

We are asking ALL COACHES to:

1. Check the published Top 4 lists for athletes from your club
2. Contact selected athletes/parents directly
3. Confirm they are aware of their invitation
4. Remind them to register before the deadline to secure their position

PLEASE DO NOT RELY SOLELY ON THE EMAIL INVITATION.

If an athlete does not accept their position by the registration deadline, the invitation will be offered to the next eligible athlete based on the National Ranking System.

We don’t want any athlete to miss their opportunity to compete in the Final simply because their email did not reach them.

JERRY MORAITIS CREATES AUSTRALIAN TAEKWONDO HISTORY

AUSTRALIA’S FIRST-EVER WORLD TAEKWONDO PARA GRAND PRIX GOLD MEDAL

A landmark moment for Australian Para Taekwondo.

Coach Jerry Moraitis has guided Shrijana Ghising to a historic Gold Medal at the 2026 World Taekwondo Para Grand Prix in Muju, delivering Australia’s first-ever Gold Medal at this level of World Taekwondo Para competition.

Shrijana produced an extraordinary campaign, defeating four world-class opponents without dropping a round.

Her path to Gold saw her defeat the World No. 11, World No. 1, World No. 6 and World No. 2 in succession, winning every match 2–0. Among those victories were two 2024 Paralympic Bronze Medallists.

This is a remarkable achievement for Shrijana and a significant coaching milestone for Jerry, reflecting the preparation, strategy and ability to perform when it matters most on the world stage.

More than a Gold Medal, this result represents a new benchmark for Australian Para Taekwondo and another significant step forward for Australia internationally.

History made. A new benchmark set.

Congratulations to Shrijana Ghising and Coach Jerry Moraitis on an achievement that will forever hold a place in Australian Taekwondo history. by @performance_pathway_program

BRONZE IN LAHORE 🇦🇺 A fantastic result for Evie Ruffle and Shrijana Ghising, both claiming Bronze Medals at the Asian Para President’s Cup in Lahore, Pakistan, proudly representing Australia on the international stage. 🇦🇺🥉🥉

Evie produced a strong quarter-final performance, defeating her Brazilian opponent 2–0 before facing a familiar Russian opponent in the semi-final. Just one month after meeting at the Korean Open, Evie showed clear progress and significant improvement, narrowly missing out against the eventual Gold Medallist.

As the No.1 seed, Shrijana faced Iran in her semi-final and took the opening round. The next two rounds could not have been closer, with both decided by just a single scoring kick, as the Iranian athlete progressed and went on to claim Gold.

Two Bronze Medals, but more importantly, great performances, valuable international experience and clear growth.

We are extremely proud of both athletes. 🇦🇺💚💛

Australian Taekwondo has returned from the Korean Tour with a rich haul of medals and invaluable international experience, as a large contingent of athletes from multiple programs tested themselves against world-class opposition.

The tour united the Australian Para High Performance Team, the Senior High Performance Team, the Fighting Futures squad and the Extended Performance Pathway athletes for a campaign contested in tough conditions. Fighting both air quality in the arena as well as late fights, some finishing as late as 4am, our athletes were tested both physically and mentally in trying environments.

These are some of the slides from the webinar I hosted a few weeks back for @aus_taekwondo @performance_pathway_program around how to implement strength and conditioning methods within club-based programs!
It’s so exciting to see how far Taekwondo in Australia has come over the last 10 years. These young athletes are being given more and more opportunities, and coaches are eager to learn and help develop them.
I feel very lucky to continue to be involved in the sport and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this next generation of athletes! 🙏
