We have had such an incredible West End theatre semester in London, and what a way to wrap things up and go out with a BANG! Our semester group have been training in stage combat with the BADC taught by the sensational top pro combateer @combatclairefights who has choreographed fights for the West End, the Globe theatre and beyond. Our students have worked up to their first stage combat exam and I’m delighted to say they have absolutely smashed it and all passed! Our students have strengthened their acting, stretched their emotions range, improved their physicality, and learnt tools they can take forward with them into the future. ✨ West End Semester – Stage Combat with Claire Llewellyn @combatclairefights assisted by @maryjensik What really happens in a stage combat lesson?On our Study Abroad Theatre Programme in London, students train with leading UK fight director Claire Llewellyn, an accredited BADC instructor (British Academy of Dramatic Combat) whose credits span the West End, Globe Theatre, RSC, and major UK tours.🛡 In today’s class, students learned the fundamentals of safe stage combat — from realistic choking and falls, to precision movement and partner safety. They’re not just playing pretend — they’re working towards a recognised BADC qualification, gaining physical awareness, trust, and confidence with every move.Whether it’s a scene in 2:22 A Ghost Story or a Shakespearean sword fight, combat is a vital skill for any professional performer. West End Semester – Mindset MasterclassAs part of our Study Abroad Musical Theatre Semester in London, our students took part in a powerful masterclass exploring the mental side of performance — where confidence, mindset, and creativity meet.We were thrilled to welcome West End leading lady and musical mentor Sophia Ragavelas @themusicalmentor into the studio. Known for roles including Eponine in Les Misérables and Grizabella in Cats, Sophia shared industry insights and wisdom that truly resonated with our students.🎭 Every performer — whether in training or in their professional career — faces moments of insecurity and pressure. 🎭 West End Semester Training – Day 1We’ve just kicked off our West End Semester for 2025, a unique study abroad musical theatre programme in London for international students passionate about performance.Over the coming weeks, our students will train with some of the most respected professionals in the West End industry, gaining hands-on experience in singing, acting, and dancing — all in the heart of London’s West End.They began the day with contemporary dance, taught by @juliandavidlewis — an acclaimed contemporary dancer and educator, known for his work with institutions such as The Place and Trinity Laban. He is also co-director of Traceworks Dance Company, where he creates and leads innovative contemporary dance projects.Next was Scene Into Song, working under the guidance of Rohan Tickell, a renowned actor, acting tutor and former Head of Acting at one of the UK’s top drama schools. With decades of experience on stage and in the rehearsal room, Rohan brings deep insight, precision, and compassion to every session — and today was no exception.What a way to begin.
