From the Lips to the Moon: A stubborn hope against hope 🌀

“From the Lips to the Moon does the hard labour of sitting in this moment of hopeless, senseless hope, without providing an easy out. Instead, Tara, Pouya and all featured performers and poets unfold a landscape of open-ended sonic conversations, rubbing words, sound and music across supermarket lines, in the belly of the empire, at home, wherever that may be. It is an album that came out as the war in Iran, Lebanon and Palestine happened in real time. An album that tries to articulate a politics of hope, asking: How do we live in the destruction of all that we know?”

✍️Anahi Saravia Herrera (@anahi_saravia, performingborders) listens for what the present sounds like amid war, collapse and the exhaustion of hope in Tara Fatehi (@tarafteh) and Pouya Ehsaei’s (@pouyaehsaei) new album ‘From the Lips to the Moon’. Article now on performingborders, linked in bio 🔗

Join Tara and Pouya for their next performance at Cafe Oto (London, @cafeotodalston ) this Friday 18th September 2026. Expect a sensory sonic experience, tickets via @lipstomoon 🎟️

Citemor 2026: Dori Nigro + Wura Moraes

ENG: “The Sirens have a still more fatal weapon than their song, namely their silence” _Franz Kafka

This year, performingborders is back at Citemor festival, this time as a programming and co-producer partner. As this is a festival dedicated to accompaniment and experimentation, we have invited two artists with whom we have been developing collaborations, conversations and frequencies over the years, and who are now making their debut in Montemor.

Dori Nigro presents “The Silence of the Sirens”, followed by Wura Moraes with “Reverberations of a Body-Canvas”, both creative and socio-political research projects, conceived and adapted for the Esther de Carvalho venue.

Over the coming weeks, the artists will be in residence in Montemor, with mutual support and curatorial guidance from the team at performingborders and Associação Reflexo Azul.

🌀Excited to share a new text by Leena Habiballa: Poetry, Protest, and Political possibility, reflecting on the work of Amel Moyersoen: afraid of losing the echoes.

This text dives into what film and moving image let us re-perform when we visit the poetics of protest:

“In turn, the riot becomes a rehearsal of a political otherwise, a poetic insistence on maintaining a space of radical imagination as an open field that equally embraces its agitational potentials and contradictions. There is a meditative nature to the gestural repetitions on screen – the throwing of a molotov cocktail, crowds dispersing and converging, signs, chants, and marches – the choreography of a breaking and remaking of social life and relation.”
