Happy 96th Heavenly Birthday Pop❤️

This picture was taken 30 years ago at my wedding and is the only picture capturing the 3 Perno’s together in our true essence. My grandfather was a MAN in an era when everyone who knew him, knew his family. Every successive generation emanating from his trunk, each branch and leaf, belonged to the Original “Pretty Perno” aka “Slick”. As ironic as it seems, last week my youngest @zayb.theseer was wearing a t shirt with this image that I made for my grandfather and father. At the time, I happen to be listening to Black Coffee by Ray Charles, one of my grandfathers favorite tracks and artist. It’s so amazing how God connects all of the dots to our jigsaw puzzle of life.

Discovering and embracing from whence you came can be a cathartic experience. The process may unearth pain or free you from psychological shackles that may hold you hostage your entire life. For me “liberation” means going home!
