Welcome to a roadside diner, Japan-style! Back when I was a high school teacher in this town (in the 1900s), this is one of my favorite restaurants. It wasn’t exactly western food, it wasn’t exactly Japanese food, it was a very interesting blend of both. It was also pretty affordable, which we are all mindful of no matter what time period we’re in.

Fun fact: I was so intent on getting a good view from a technical standpoint that I really didn’t pay attention to what was happening on the runway. It was only after I went back to post things that I saw all the models and the fashions. And while I cannot speak for all photographers, I am going to put it out there that this is a very common experience. We are so focused on getting the good shot that we are not necessarily paying attention to what is actually in the shot!

The power of the image! And what better place to display it than one of the best power addresses in New York? This was a great move on behalf of the Waldorf Astoria; the artists get a world class space and the hotel gets to update its image. Everybody wins, and everybody gains.

The man himself! After having attended a few fashion shows, I can honestly say that the designer very rarely walks the entire runway. In fact, it’s rare based up on stage, and we see them at all; maybe just a perfunctory bow. But hey, this guy earned his time in the spotlight. Enjoy it, I say!
