Images sublimation printed onto canvas, cut, then plain woven on the loom.
First photo is my mother as a child growing up in Brooklyn. Second photo is my father with his brother and cousin at the immigration line when he moved from China to New York.
Final piece is a small woven tapestry with the words Chinese characters 记住, to remember. I wanted my piece to reflect how memory is pliable, ephemeral, and not always linear. I chose to have all of the strips of the photographs to have frayed edges and not be cut perfectly.

some clothes I altered

flannel is my dads old work shirt I added clasp
Then used some scrap fabric from a dress and sewed a top w open lace-up back

Lamp is finished!!!! 🌞

Base I made out of ceramic, did all the wiring, and then wove the lamp shade using shifu mulberry paper thread I spun!!!!!!! I also included some folded up paper maps. My parents used to collect them when they’d travel!!!
She also has a mane 🦁

She is wobbly but charming
