While checking in on some local businesses, I got a chance to stop in at ST. BARNABAS COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER.
Fun fact: My great grand mother, Mamie E. Wiggins, was a co founder of the original women’s shelter there. Only thinking to drop off my business card, I leisurely dropped her name at the front desk, reminiscing of what I remembered growing up. “And yea Fun fact..”, a gentleman popped from behind the door and said “you’re her grand son?!” And ushered me back into the lobby.
“I remember Mamie E.” He rejoiced!
He then proudly boasted and educated about what they really do. Thanks in part to her hard work and dedication. I was stunned, as I learned the multitude of services they provide to the community. A food pantry, behavioral health services, legal aid and so much more! On top of still providing shelter to families in need!!! I just know her heart would be so full!
Thank you @ecsphilly for what you do for our city and communities. But also thank you for giving this guy a little piece of family history, nostalgia and understanding of purpose in life 🥹🫶🏾 #philly taken in Ecs St Barnabas Mission by @perspectivesolutions215

Small business month was a good reminder that business is about being of service.
I attended a lot of events last month, but what I’ll remember most are the conversations, connections, and people dedicated to helping others succeed.
Grateful to everyone who shared their resources, knowledge, and continues to invest in our local business community.
Excited to keep building relationships and finding ways to help where we can. 👏
