MORE TIPS BELOW 👇🏻 🇹🇯 the pamir highway goes through kyrgistan to tajikistan (with most of it being in the latter)🚍 i did OSH to DUSHANBE but you can do it the other way around. note your GBAO permit might take longer if you start in tajikistan but it is also cheaper (~$8 USD)🇦🇫 you will drive beside afghanistan & get to look at the border villages & taliban posts but you never fully cross in.🫂 the roads can get a little scary at times but otherwise it feels super safe (even as a woman!)🏨 accommodation is mostly small guest houses with dinner & breakfast included. most places cost around $25 per night per person.🍛 food is mainly broths, eggs or porridge, rice, potatoes & lots of bread. you’ll also get a huge spread of complimentary sweets at most places you go.🛒 there will be a few groceries at some of the major hubs (murghab, khorog, etc.) but options will be limited so i’d stock up on waters & snacks beforehand.🥾 if you’re into hiking bring proper shoes so you can take advantage of the treks along the way.🏔️ you’ll pass by insane mountains, glaciers, geisers, hot springs, forts & ruins, lakes & giant rivers. don’t sleep or zone out in the car cause you’ll miss some of the best bits !!⌚️most days you’ll be driving 4-5 hours with 7 hours being the longest you’ll spend on a car.I can’t recommend this experience enough! if you’re coming to the stans do not miss this trip. #pamirhighway #stanstrip #tajikistan #kyrgizstan #afghanistan by @peruvianomad
