🇷🇺🇺🇸 Putin’s war machine must be deprived of revenue. Trump’s diesel deal does the opposite.

❌We condemn Trump’s decision to ease sanctions on Russian diesel while Russia continues its war of aggression against Ukraine. As fuel prices become a political liability at home, making concessions to Putin and blaming Zelenskyy is a dangerous way to shift the burden onto Ukraine. Calling for Ukraine’s democratically elected President to be replaced is unacceptable.

🇺🇦 Ukraine’s future belongs to Ukrainians.
Europe must stand firmly with Ukraine. We welcome today’s adoption of new EU sanctions targeting Russia’s military-industrial complex. We must increase economic pressure on the aggressor instead of striking deals with him, including by cutting Russia’s energy revenues, tackling sanctions evasion and reinforcing support for Ukraine.

✅ A just and lasting peace requires respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and international law. It cannot be built by rewarding the aggressor. by @pes_pse

⚖️🧑‍⚖️ International justice must be protected, not sanctioned.

The PES strongly condemns the Trump administration’s decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC).

PES President Stefan Löfven says:
“Justice cannot depend on who holds power. No country, no leader, and no government has the right to be above international law. These sanctions threaten the independence of the ICC and its ability to deliver justice to victims of the gravest crimes. Defending the ICC is ultimately about defending the fundamental values of decency and justice upon which our civilisation is built. Europe must stand firm, defend the Court, and ensure it can continue its work without intimidation.”

The PES stands alongside the European Union in its commitment to defending the independence of the ICC, international justice, accountability, and the rule of law. by @pes_pse

🇫🇷 Congratulations to @raphaelglucksmann of @mouvementplacepublique on his victory in France’s centre-left primary!

A victory for progressive values, democracy and a fairer France.

We also value the commitment of @olivierfaure and our comrades from the @partisocialiste to building a strong, united progressive movement.

As France looks to the future, we need a politics that brings people together, stands up to the far right and puts social justice, solidarity and hope at the heart of our societies.

The fight for a better future starts here. This is just the beginning.

🌍✊The future won’t wait. Neither can we.

Today, thousands are in the streets of Brussels to demand real climate action. And they are right to do so.

We cannot build a fairer, safer Europe while remaining dependent on fossil fuels. We need bold political choices, investment in clean energy and a just transition that protects people, lowers energy bills and leaves no one behind.

🌱🌡️Climate action is not a choice between people and the planet. It is about protecting both.

The message from the streets is clear: the time for promises is over. We need action, ambition and a future that works for everyone.

📣🗣️The climate is changing, why aren’t we? by @pes_pse

🇧🇪 The European Parliament has backed S&D MEP @Estelle.Ceulemans ’ report calling for stronger EU rules to tackle psychosocial risks at work, including burnout, stress, depression and harassment. The message to the European Commission is clear: it’s time to act, especially as digitalisation and AI reshape our workplaces.

Congratulations to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for her work promoting international law and justice.
At a time when international institutions face growing political pressure, her recognition highlights the importance of defending human rights, accountability and the rule of law. Peace needs justice, and those who defend it must be able to do so independently.

🇩🇪 On 17 October, PES joins the @SPDde and @Jusos in Bochum for “Europa, ich komm’ aus dir!”, a festival bringing people together to discuss the future of democracy and the challenges facing young people.
With discussions, exchanges and live music, the event creates space for a new generation to shape a more democratic and solidaristic Europe. Link in our bio to register! by @pes_pse

Congratulations to Navanethem Pillay on being awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

A lifelong defender of human rights, justice and international law, her work reminds us that there can be no lasting peace without accountability and respect for human dignity.

At a time when international justice is under growing attack, including through the Trump administration’s sanctions against judges of the International Criminal Court, Pillay’s recognition sends a powerful message of resistance: those who defend justice and accountability will not be silenced. Her work embodies the courage needed to stand up for independent international institutions against political pressure.

The progressive family celebrates this well-deserved recognition and will continue to stand up for human rights, democracy and peace everywhere. by @pes_pse
