Saturday–Sunday, August 22–23, 2026 Show 1: 3:00 PM Show 2: 7:30 PM OPEN FOR PUBLICand recommended for audiences aged 10 and above Venue: Jatayu Theatre Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS ) Jakarta —- Following its successful world premiere in New York City, and subsequent tour to four other cities in the United States and Singapore, Papermoon Puppet Theatre is bringing PUNO: Sewing Memories back home to Indonesia. Beloved worldwide for its deep emotional core and innovative puppetry, Papermoon Puppet Theatre invites audiences to explore the stories woven into the fabric of our lives. The story follows Puno, a single father and tailor, as he tries to stitch together threads of memory with his daughter, Tala. He strives to provide for her needs while nurturing her self-confidence and abilities, so that one day, Tala can continue her journey on her own. Through the stitching of threads and fabric, Papermoon asks us to reflect on the many ways death shapes us, and to recognize the significance of our loved ones’ lives beyond the moment of their passing. Ticket donations start from IDR 500,000 and will be available beginning July 17, 2026 at www.streamingaja.id. PESTA BONEKA #10 is an international biennial puppet festival founded in 2008 and independently hosted by Papermoon Puppet Theatre. This year, Papermoon will bring together more than 150 artists from 26 countries for the festival, which will be held from October 6–11, 2026. Most of the ticket donations from PUNO will go toward funding PESTA BONEKA #10 and supporting the 27 performances presented during the festival. by @pesta_boneka

Hu木an Indonesia Masterclass journey continues!Today, participants of the first Masterclass session will take part in a special sharing session on “Shared Heritage: Spices”, led by Ms. Kumoratih Kushardjanto, Founder and Leader of the Negeri Rempah Foundation.This session will provide valuable insights and contribute to the further development of Hu木an Indonesia’s storytelling and narrative. Hu木an Indonesia is a collaborative performance initiated by @theartground (Singapore), @sensoriumtheatre (Australia) and @papermoonpuppet theatre (Indonesia) that invites artists from different backgrounds in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia to create a multi-sensory, interactive experience suitable for children with limited access to the arts, with or without complex disabilities, to bring the collection to life in a way that was accessible for all. #RoadToPestaBonekaWe had an amazing 3-days-masterclass of making performance for children with disabilities with @sensoriumtheatre and @theartground attended by 26 actors, therapists, teachers, students, dancers, puppetry artists and musicians from Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bandung, Banten, Jombang, Jambi, Palangka Raya, Makasar, Bali, and Penang, Malaysia.We were so grateful that @francisitalianooo and Michelle shared their 16 years of experience working with and for children with disabilities. When @zee.latidotherapy also shared how sound and music could be one of the multimodal communications, and Myra Loke shared an exercise of bring a life to an object.And the attendance of @im.nels , Desta and @ariefwicaks from @bawayangproduction also brought a deeper learning process for all of us.—The seeds are in our hands now..And looking forward to see how it will bloom in many places in many ways.Many of the participats never did performances for children with disabilities before, and some of them never experience making a performance before but has experience with children with disabilities. So glad for having all team for #HUTANINDONESIA arrived safely in Yogyakarta!Welcome @theartground team from Singapore : Myra, Zee and Bella!Today, as the Singapore team arrived in Yogya, we went straight to visit @slbmarganingsih , the school where we will do our residency for the second phase of this project. The team also visited @ruang.pana as the venue of @pesta_boneka , to learn about the space where the play will be presented.Then we spent our evening to prepare the day 1 masterclass TOMORROW!We are looking forward to welcome 24 artists from several cities and islands of Indonesia, and also 2 Malaysian artiats who will join us.This is really EXCITING!#papermoonresidency #RoadtoPestaBoneka #papermooncollaboration by @pesta_boneka

Papermoon Puppet Theatre in collaboration with Tom Lee @tlee668 (USA), will hold a masterclass and Puppet Camp as part of #PestaBoneka10 ; an international biennale puppet festival that will happen in October 7 -11, 2026 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.We invite puppeteers, dancers, performers, theater makers to do a collaboration and training process in Japanese puppetry techniques (kuruma ningyō-style), and joining the performance of Shank’s Mare at PESTA BONEKA #10.
