Today makes 9 years living in Canada, entering my 10th year is a strange concept for someone who moved here on a whim and was only gonna come for 6months.
Albeit a cliche “finding myself” by moving across the world has turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever done, looking back on the last 9 years I’m super proud of all I’ve accomplished on this journey. Especially painting, I’ve always been a painter but starting Petraits and connecting with so many of you through painting your pets has been the most rewarding part of my life in Canada, so thanks for all the continued support!

It’s nice to see a time capsule of yourself, looking back knowing how much good stuff was coming is a nice thought for the future! by @pet_raits

Woah here’s a timelapse I remembered to press record for!
One hour of roughing out a little paint study.
Lots of people ask me about my painting process, if I draw first or project the image etc. So here is a quick little timelapse to demonstrate,

All I do is sketch in paint, blocking forms and features. Then I build layers adding detail as we go, always correcting and refining by eye. lots of layers and lots of paint brushes getting progressively tinier as the details start to pop. Hope this makes sense? It’s about as articulate as I can muster 🫠

Thanks for watching! taken in Toronto, Ontario by @pet_raits
