Hello to my new followers! Thank you for being apart of my daily journey of all things beautiful.
My friends call me “Petah” (think of Peter with your best British accent). That nickname was first said many years ago when I first became interested in design.

My past past 20 year career as an award winning event designer became the catalyst for this chapter.
Now, I work with clients rejuvenating their homes, helping them prepare for special occasions, sharing my knowledge here with you, and growing my company @shop.livingbeautifully where I curate a really beautiful line of home, tabletop and interior merchandise to add some ease to your life.

🌸Some fun facts about me:
I share long form videos on my Youtube channel
A fashion designer by trade
I’m a collector of milk glass and vintage jewelry
My favorite flavor is lemon
Flowers are considered a love language
Cooking and Baking are also in my repertoire
I’ve designed events for 2 guests to over 2K attendees
If you’d like to know more, Please feel free to ask anything below.

For this image, I styled the mantle layering modern and vintage elements with casually arranged dried ferns.
The sculptural dried ferns lift the image visually without competing with its partners.

In honor of my friends up-north celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this week, I’m joining a beautiful feature page @allthingstablestyling sharing inspirations for autumn entertaining. Join me monthly through the holidays for my segment “The Styled Home with Petah” on @allthingstablestyling page for more designer-based ideas.

This month: What I love about this table is how I styled an Thanksgiving table with just white dinnerware. Why use white? Most people have white or neutral dinnerware in their homes. Most do not have autumnal colors on-hand. By introducing white mixed with contrasting autumn colors, I’ve dispelled the myth that plates must have an “Autumn Vibe” to be perfect.

Autumn Mantle Decor
Welcoming Autumn with a favorite ilex berry, gourd, and pumpkin mantle decoration I designed not too long ago.
Most often you see ilex berry in red during December. Better known by its common name, “Winterberry,” the orange variety adds that slight touch of whimsy against the heavier featured gourds. It’s really striking when arranged alone in a simple vessel. taken in Main Line, Philadelphia by @petah.bashano

With autumn’s unofficial arrival in a few days (the Tuesday after Labor Day) I need some inspiration. Sorting through past images I found this design I created for a private club. To me the colors feel like autumn. Which is so close to @kellycdonohue (Devon, PA) design she posted few days ago.

Summer flower arrangement

Lavender and green are not top of mind when you’re thinking of summer floral designs.
But for this piece, it was the roses that asked for green partners.
The large roses have the slightest bit of green in their undertone. It’s not very apparent at first glance.

How do you feel about this palette?

The designs selection includes:
Trachilieum
Limes
Veraegted Brassica (Kale)
Lavender Floribunda Roses
Green Floribunda Roses
The asparagus-like stems clusters are the Brassica’s bottom stem (after cutting)

Lavender clematis, often seen climbing a wooden fence, arbor or lamp post are a summer favorite. Additionally, they make great cut flowers.
The stems in these images are cultivated for the cut flower market. But I’ve taken my own garden’s clematis and used them with great results. The blooms lasted over 7 days and the foliage is still alive three weeks later.
If you cut your own, try and to cut slightly opened blooms. Then allow to open indoor.

Interior style: When I began styling this image, I was convinced the dark gold tray was great on its own. But clearly that assumption was wrong. What was not in mind was a pile of dried mushrooms. Not the norm when it comes to problem solving style. The notion, “Hey, a pile of mushrooms would be great!” is normally not top of mind.
Interestingly enough they’re just simply arranged within the tray. No magic, just “feeling” what’s correct.
That simple textural addition balanced the image’s style and weight.

Interior Styling

Beautiful interior design by @violainteriordesign

I watched a reel recently about a desent into beige. Not that beige is a bad color. It had more to do with the “cut and paste” banal design found on social media so often.

Color has power.
Here I elevated this amazing console’s deep blue with color that elevated the image but allows the interior design to speak.

A beautifully relaxed yet elegant entertainment barn designed by @violainteriordesign
I had the pleasure of styling the images for photography. My favorite styling item for this shoot is the tiny antique shoe form found while shopping in Lancaster county.
