I’m midway through summer season with @katiemeluaofficial
This follows an audition back in February to fill in this year for @gabeppm
These gigs have been sensational, playing in concert halls around Scandanavia, Iceland, Germany and The Netherlands.
I share the photography of @monicagarduno.photo from our gig in @isar.philharmonie with @muenchnersymphoniker
This music is highly detailed, and has been a huge undertaking to transcribe, program & memorise, yet we have the freedom of each gig being unique, the whole band gets to stretch out in this entirely live and unique interpretation of her music.

What an unbelievable time playing for Gabrielle Aplin, around Europe and the UK.
It all started in the Swiss mountains, followed by 15 headline stops around EU, Ireland and UK, finishing at the iconic London Palladium.
I still absolutely love touring. I get the chance to simply focus on playing the piano at my very best, for large audiences who feed back supportive energy.
As I write this, the adrenaline still courses.
What if, all the traditional ‘rules’ of being a backing musician never even existed? Were they self-fabricated? “Play the part or get fired”. What about the bits in between? Blur the lines and boundaries as much as you can and there exists an unimaginable joy. Respect the spirit of the music but do not simply rehash. I owe this emerged truth to the artists I’ve played for the last decade or so, for their trust in my supportive role and the license they give me to PLAY.

2025, a year i’ll never forget.

My touring slowed down just a little although I did a couple of big Arena supports with @iamtomwalker, as well as an candlelit tour, where we hired beautiful real pianos around the UK.
I started working with the incredible talent @oliviaswannmusic, whose voice is out of this world, and I started integrating back into the London music scene, after solid tours since 2017.
I jumped in for some European jazz and blues festivals with @kateatonmusic and played piano for @lauraoakesmusic, also played a big BBC televised thing with Tom for VE Day.

The highlight had to be Glastonbury - I played 5 gigs there between Thursday and Sunday. I played with Tom at the Avalon Stage, PRS tent and Strummerville. Also the acoustic stage with @gabrielleaplin. On the final night @dilavardar, @jessicathomasphotos & @maza.galeano organised a set with me and @alicezawadzki. I looked up from my keys and the UKs top musicians seemed be all crammed into this 100cap tent - I was more nervous that I was for the big stages.
In the Autumn I did an Irish tour with @damianlewisreallyofficial - a killing band - playing with amps and monitors like the good old days - absolutely the real deal.
During the week days I’ve been working with this beautiful charity - @spitz_music. We work in care environments for people who need music therapy. We play for those who can’t remember their favourite songs until we play them. We play for those who need rehabilitation. We play for those who are gently slipping away.

Whilst at Glasto, me and Maza got the keys to our new flat, for which we’ve been saving for about 8 years. I organised some pros to sand down the floors whilst we were at the festival, and the move commenced as soon as we got back, still sticky and covered in glitter.
From that point onwards I had to balance touring and festivals with repairing every element of the flat.
In honestly, I eventually reached total burnout.
My nervous system essentially gave up: sleeplessness, physical pain, and general exhaustion, emotional and spiritual ground zero.

Had a fantastic time playing soul, funk and blues festivals in France & Luxembourg with @kateatonmusic and her band.

I was depping for the amazing @joe_glossop, who can rip a blues in Gb or B as well as he can in F & Bb!

Kat is the real deal - she has two albums out now, that I’ve had the pleasure of learning them in their entirety - it’s all real instruments recorded at the same time, grooving extremely hard, with exceptional songwriting and vocal performance.

I’m improvising a lot a home on my acoustic piano with my eyes closed and the windows open! I think it may be worth sharing that too soon, but I’m also keen to just keep something of music for myself as it provides me with a great sense of personal reassurance and joy. Reflecting on 2023, what a year!

I should have kept up a little more with insta, but this year has been was an absolute whirlwind.
This has been my most varied and therefore my most enjoyable year of gigging to date.
Now I have the challenge of putting it into a nutshell.

It’s almost time to dive into what will be my most hectic summer of gigs to date.
I’m playing with many artists I’ve never had the opportunity to play with before, including a European run with @amandapearlshires, followed by a World Tour with @brunomajor
(Actually, I’ve played with Bruno hundreds of times back in the day, but this is off the scale!)
