Slayed the badger ⚔️ 🦡

The Badger Divide has been on the bucket list for 5 years or more, but until now my battered old body hasn’t been able. I’m finally finding some consistency in riding again for the first time since COVID, so decided to make the most of it and ride north to south with @oddjobsally

The @hup_competition_cycling GCX was the perfect weapon of choice with big chunky tyres making our fast and light approach super smooth.

Day 1 was harder than we probably realised, especially with a headwind most of the day. @corrourstationhouse was our saviour at the end of the day.

Day 2 was fast and flowy, and with the sun at our backs was a proper hoot.

Gravel Champs was a thing! Big congrats to @graceinglis for 3rd in the Elite race on her HUP GCX. And what a race? Is the sport of Gravel the most brutal thing you can do on 2 wheels?

Bionic @petematthews7 hit some seriously tough stuff at speed sending his Di2 into crash mode, without actually crashing, ending 5th over the line after the resets 👊

@samchisholm2004 (after a big 140km road race at the Champs the day before) very sensibly pulled after the first 1000m of climbing. More than happy with that decision!

@reddytasha finally succumbed to her bad hip, after 2 weeks on her spare bike (non-HUP) and it’s 170mm cranks 🫣 out in Tenerife. Again, after her podium the night before, was 💯 the right decision 👏

Well done to everyone who took on the brutal course and big average speeds for 3 or 4 hours on those rigid bikes 👀🤌

The wait is over, the new UCI approved HUP evo2 has arrived. After substantial redevelopment, the new HUP evo2 is now even lighter, with larger clearances, multiple bottle cage bosses, bigger chainrings, a UDH hanger - but the same race winning geometry...

Through independent SGS testing, we've been able to re-engineer the triple-butted 7005 tubes, 8 of the 11 tubes are new, reducing weight. Along with the new Brushed Aluminium finish, that reduction in weight is real, frame weights start from 1195g in Aluminium - we make High Street brands blush when comparing their carbon frames, at double the price.

We’ve kept the same, highly successful race geometry as the original HUP evo. It works, it wins, so we kept it. This means you can continue to race Cyclocross, Road, Triathlon - but now, Gravel too. By increasing mud clearances, Gravel in Summer, CX in Winter with just a change of tyres is real too. Big mud clearances on 33c, or space for 50mm gravel tyres using the dedicated Gravel fork.

True CX bikes have been getting thin on the ground, so don’t confuse this with another long wheelbase gravel bike, trying to convince you it will work for CX (because they don’t). Team HUP has already spent 6 months racing and proving the new bike in Belgium, against the best cross racers in the world.
The HUP evo2 has held true to the geometry requirements of racing, chainstay lengths, wheelbase, stack & BB drop are not compromised, as they are on new generation of Gravel bikes on MTB tyres.

The HUP evo2 sets a whole new benchmark...

First Gravel Enduro for Team HUP last weekend saw @graceinglis and @petematthews7 take on the Elite categories on their Highland Bronze weaponary 🤘

With Grace setting Top 5 stage times overall (despite getting cold waiting for ObeseDS Maximus) and Pete flying on his new bionic knee - plus all the group riding socials between stages, what’s not love about gravel enduro?👌

Still cheesin’ 🧀

Been a LONNNG road back but we made it! Such an epic weekend at @mucknmacfest with the @hup_competition_cycling crew and feels good to actually contribute for once! Main goal was to have fun and test the knee - 🥈 elite was just a bonus.

Huge thanks to @pat_mac_73 @loughperformancecoaching & @myra__matthews for their endless patience, @project_physio & @mckennatherapy for helping put me back together and everyone else who’s played a part 🫶🏼
