The subject of intellectual property and how ownership of same can be productively maximized by creatives is a fundamental one globally, more so in a country like Nigeria, where the creative industry has been growing in steady giant leaps and bounds over the years.

Beyond the euphoria of Grammy-nominations, the boom that accompanies releasing a street anthem and the hype that surrounds topping the charts, our creative artists and artistes must also be able to smile home to the bank through significantly enjoying the economic benefits their intellectual property produces.

But this is not usually the case, as many of our creatives continue to be exploited and their talents taken for granted by some shark-like Record Labels and talent managers who tie them to oppressive contracts, offer them peanuts and profit on their intellectual sweat.

To address this salient issue, I will be speaking to @885_ufm UFM (88.5FM) on the topic "Recording Contracts and Exit Clauses: Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law in Nigeria" on Tuesday 1st November 2022 by 2:00PM (Lagos time) .

Kindly tune in and ensure to tell every creative person you know to listen in to the session.
