Heartbreak is out.

We’re really proud and happy to finally share this one.

When we first put together the demo, our first thought was that maybe it didn’t sound very Peter Kernel. Maybe it was just too catchy.

But then something funny happened: we kept catching ourselves humming it. Walking around, driving, doing completely unrelated things, it was just there, stuck in our heads. We realized there was something genuinely addictive about it, and instead of questioning it, we decided to follow that feeling.

So we dressed it up and gave it a soul.

Peter Kernel has always been a slow band, constantly transforming. Slow because we pay a lot of attention to what we’re becoming. We try to recognize it when it appears, catch it before it disappears, and turn it into music. And that means allowing ourselves to change along the way.

With Heartbreak, we wanted to keep that instinct and immediacy in the recording too. What you hear is just 1 bass track, drums and 1 guitar track. No overdubs. We played it together, live in the same room, and recorded the vocals separately.

We hope it stays with you too.

Some battles are fought so many times they begin to feel routine.
