4 years ago, I lost my best friend to a drug overdose. In the midst of COVID, some months, we spent more days together than apart. He was an absolute joy to be around and I wanted to invite him to pretty much anything I was doing. He was the most uplifting soul I've ever encountered and I have a hard time recalling any memories of him ever being in a bad mood.

Although our time together was too short, I will always admire him and his personality. His enthusiasm for meeting new people and wanting to connect with the world around him has forever changed me. He was one of those guys who would just shout out something goofy to random strangers just to get a smile and a laugh. Rest in Peace Marshall, I feel so lucky to have met you.

I was visiting Taylor's family when tragedy struck. Helene was the deadliest hurricane to hit the mainland since Katrina and Asheville was not spared. My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones and will forever have to live with the scars of destruction.

While the main river through downtown swelled to 25 feet above its normal height, entire buildings were ripped away. In the heavily wooded surrounding hills, there were streets where most homes had been struck by a tree. Power lines laid on the ground beside trunks just tall enough to drive under.

Although Asheville won't be the same when life there finally starts to feel normal again, I'm excited to one day come back to this quirky Appalachian town.

Had an awesome week spending time with my dad and sis following the remote Fish Fork River in Southern California. Highlights were repelling down an 80 foot waterfall, finding Tarantulas, and seeing the beautiful scenery that my dad grew up in. by @peterkesting

After a stressful quarter, this Hawaiian spring break was an ideal cure to my school sickness. O Hawaii...the only place in the world where seafood is sold at a 7-Eleven. Currently going through spam misubi withdrawals by @peterkesting

7000 miles later and I’m back in the great PNW. A month before I left I was stressing out because I still didn’t know how to ride a motorcycle but it couldn’t have turned out much better. I’ve been heartened by the amount of gracious people that exist and continue to be awe-inspired by the beauty on this planet. by @peterkesting
