‘Hommage’ is a piece of music written when I was 15 years old, specifically for the funeral of one of my most favourite teachers: Mr. Jean-Marie Debrit. Only a few times in life you meet people who influence you for the rest of your life. He was already than a great motivator for pushing me in the music direction. Every two years he was the director of the High School school play and he let me compose some pieces for that, played live by students of the College. To this day it saddens me that he has left this world so early. But I still feel his presence and his motivation and his whispers for never giving up and for always going for my creative goals.

This piece is for him, to honour him, and to thank him for his passion and his affection for all creative things!

With this new collection for horn in F and piano, @symphonicdimensions expands the repertoire for horn players with a versatile and contemporary selection. Developed in cooperation with @dorfmayrpeter, principal horn of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and lecturer at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna, the book includes six new works by different composers written specifically for the intermediate level.

A melody I wrote when I was 17 years old, for the funeral of my teacher ‘Father Harry’. Than performed on clarinet and guitar, now orchestrated for Solo Violin and String Orchestra. A lament about being thankful for ‘life’, and an optimistic promise of light towards the future. A very intimate and emotional piece of music.

Especially now, with the remembrance of the IS attacks in Belgium 10 years ago, on the 22nd of March (also the birthday of my eldest daughter, who was 3 years old at the time of the attacks), a moment of reflection and honouring those who aren’t here anymore.
