Today, Beggars Banquet celebrates 4 decades of the @petermurphyofficial debut solo album 'Should The World Fail To Fall Apart'. This album launched Murphy’s solo career following Bauhaus’ initial split in 1983 and a brief project with Mick Karn of Japan known as Dali’s Car. While echoes of Bauhaus can be heard throughout the record, 'Should The World Fail To Fall Apart' was Murphy’s effort at expanding beyond the Goth Rock label that had long been attached to him. Many critics have described this work as Murphy's growth into a more mature sound. But the romance that the singer has long been known for certainly isn’t lost here.
