I just received this record from the German rapper @julezyo which was released back in August. As the title implies the theme of this album is being tired. The song Ausgelaut really sums this up the best as Julez raps about getting up early and going to a crappy job just to come home all exhausted in order to pay the rent. That is something many of us have tried at some point which makes the song so relatable.There are also the frustrations about trying to make it as a musician and how hard it has become in the song Regenfall and then there is the song Mehr als ein Gefühl where he questions the importance of clicks and Tik Tok trends in the modern music ecosystem. The music was mainly produced by @asbeluxt who has made some banging boom bap beats. The album ends with an alarm going off which has been cut into the run out groove which means it will keep on going as long as the record is spinning. This is an inspired choice which shows Julezs artistic vision and how well he has executed it so this is a particularly interesting album which I fully enjoyed listening to. @flyin_lindus is a German producer from Köln/Cologne who made this album in collaboration with the American rapper Planet Asia in 2025. There are plenty of references to the city of Köln/Cologne in both the lyrics and in the artwork so I am already getting nostalgic about my recent trip to this wonderful place. The music is good old fashioned hip hop and Planet Asia sounds really dope on these type of beats. Today I have been listening to some modern jazz straight out of Köln/Cologne by the artist @opek_musik It was the owner of @hauptsachemusik_recordstore who recommended this to me and this is just the type of jazz I like. I also like to find music by local artist when I am abroad so that ticked that box too. Opek has gathered a group of talented musicians for this record and the result is a very strong listening experience so I can highly recommend this album #opek #kölnmusik #kölnjazz #germanjazz #vinyloftheday by @petersdiscs

I found another record by DJ Desue at the @kuchenplatte record fair last Saturday in Köln/Cologne. It is a diss track he made aimed at the DJ and producer DJ Tomekk. Apparently Tomekk had gotten a tape with beats from Desue and then used one of those beats without getting permission so that started the beef. Samy Deluxe, KC Da Rookee and D-Flame helped Desue by spitting some bars on the track and the rest is history #djdesue #samydeluxe #deutschrap #germanrap #vinyloftheday by @petersdiscs

I am back home again so now it is time to take a closer look at the records so bought last week in Köln/Cologne. First up is this single by the German DJ and producer @djdesue which comes from his album Art Of War from 2002 and it features Illo77 and Eißfeldt aka @jandelayofficial I hadn’t heard it beforehand but I really like the music as well as the lyrics. #djdesu #jandelay #deutschrap #germanrap #vinyloftheday by @petersdiscs

Today is my last day here in Köln/Cologne and I spent the afternoon at the @kuchenplatte record fair in @tempo___k east of the Rhein. Found some great records there and met the two local hip hop artists LST da phunky child and Melvin van Pushen. I have been listening to their Road Tape which I really like so it was cool to meet them in person. I also met one of the people behind Kuchenplatte who had reached out to me about the event. Bought one of the @808_echt_koelnisch_bass t-shirt from him which is a dope souvenir which will remind me of this trip. I have had a great time here in Köln/Cologne but it is soon time to head back home where I can listen to all the records I have found here. Yesterday it was raining and so I went inside at Museum Ludwig to check out their extensive collection of modern art. In the afternoon I went to the southern part of town to @pl678.plattenladen a nice and cosy cafe where they also sell records so after a dig and a couple of records richer I chilled with a tall glass of tea. I highly recommend this place and the service is excellent. And in the evening I finally made it to @earlybirdrecords and went through their wide selection of hip hop records and bought some German, French and American rap with a side of soul and funk. #köln #cologne #cratediggin #alwaysdigging by @petersdiscs

Day two in Köln/Cologne started by the Rhein and later up in the air crossing the river in a cable car. What a view. I managed to visit @goodmoodrecords where I bought a couple of soul records and @plattschallen_koeln which resulted in some German rap from Marsimoto, Kool Savas and Sido. Unfortunately @earlybirdrecords had changed their opening hours so I was an hour early. The irony isn’t wasted on me. Hello everybody and greetings from Köln/Cologne where I am spending the week. I went to the cathedral which is an impressive sight before I went shopping for records. First stop was @hauptsachemusik_recordstore where I found some German rap records and a local jazz record by @opek_musik After that I popped in at @dedicatedsyndicate and found the record the German producer @flyinglindus made together with Planet Asia. In Rittersstraße I found a bit of soul and some Britcore at @drakerecords and the debut album by @realtrettmann in @underdogrecordstore In @parallel_schallplatten there were both some old and some new German rap records and my final stop was at @groove_attack_recordstore which apparently is the oldest record store in town. Some time ago I found this record in a thrift store. It is by the Danish band Fit Og Fjamserne and it was the cover that made me take a closer look at it and one of the songs is called Diskotemplet (The Disco Temple) so that sounded like a disco track. And it sure is but a bit to the commercial side. But what really makes this album worth it is to me this song Jeg Tør Vædde Med Dig (I Bet You) It is funky and catchy in all the right ways. It was written by Bente Frithioff and John Guldberg who is one half of the Danish duo Laid Back known for their hits Sunshine Reggae and White Horse. #fitogfjamserne #danskerfunk #danishfunk #vinyloftheday by @petersdiscs

Today I listened to the Roadtape which is a joint venture by the producer Melivin van Pushen and the rapper LST Da Phunky Child from Germany. One one side Melvin has recorded a session he made live on the SP 404 which is pure instrumental hip hop that reminds me of the records the British label released back in the 90s. Really cool stuff. On the other side LST hosts a mixtape full of remixes of his songs mixed with exclusive songs only available on this tape. This is also top notch. @mrjns1 and @tito.tentaculo are a German duo from Berlin and they make good old samplebased hip hop. Tito is in charge of the beats while Mister Jones write the lyrics. On their album Augen Zu Und Durch from 2022 Jones he shares with us his thoughts and observations about what life is like in the big city with a focus on what happens in the streets as in the song Back To The Streets I have used for this video. It is always interesting to see the World through another person eyes and that is why I really like this album.
