Our latest project Patchwork System, a transforming tapestry, launched @sneakerness today.

Adopt a panel or order shoes directly form the tapestry. Once we have cut from the material we will fill it with new patchwork.

Patchwork System is a project that we are developing this year. If you would like to learn how we make our material, send us a message and we will send you an update when we host workshops or when our new website is live.

We will also be making shoes from this new material, however you can also order the material itself to make something out of it yourself.

We take discarded sneakers, deconstruct them and mix different bands such as Adidas, Nike, Puma, Asics and New Balance into one material. By upcycling these shoes we keep it from landfill. by @petersonstoop

Shoe designer Peterson Stoop (@petersonstoop), researcher Mariana Pereira Silva (@maryjournal) and producer Amador address circularity and post-growth economy through Project Perpetual Patchwork, a living installation made from recycled sneakers 👟

Selected for support through our Design Sector Internationalisation Grant Scheme, the collaboration will result in a large tapestry from used sneakers that continuously transforms. The work operates as a perpetual cycle: shoes and wall panels are cut from the tapestry, while resulting holes are refilled with new material. Alongside the installation, Mariana Pereira Silva develops a digital archive of recycled materials, a toolkit for collective creation, and a manifesto rooted in post-growth economy theory 🌱

Through public programmes and workshops in Amsterdam and Tokyo, the project raises awareness about waste and shapes collective responsibility ♻️

The Design Sector Internationalisation Grant Scheme opens again 16 February at 15:00 CET ⏰
