Taking a break from my IG break as I’m waiting for my flight to Maui 🤫

To think I’ve been living in Hawaii for 1.5 years now. Crazy to think I’ll be gone for 3-5 months in less than a month, and even crazier to realize when I come back, some of my friends would be gone too. Hawaii has become a home to me, and I’m so grateful to everyone I met 🥹

The moment you’re face-to-face with a tiger shark… unreal 🦈💙

I always wondered what I would do if I ever faced a tiger shark, whether I could stay calm and follow all the dos and don’ts. Staring straight at one as it swam towards me, doing exactly what I needed to… now I know for sure that I can 😁

Before arriving in Hawaii, I had been following @oceanramsey ‘s shark-diving videos. It wasn’t until I landed in Oahu that I realized her tour company, @oneoceandiving , was based there.

I ended up going on two diving tours with them. Being in the water with 10+ sharks at once, some of them tiger sharks, was phenomenal!

1 month in Copenhagen 🥹🫶 Full of lovely people, beautiful architecture, and a deeper understanding of Danish culture.

I’ve had the pleasure of spending a whole month here, and it was nothing short of amazing. Life is different here, more balanced, quieter, but full of contentment.

There are days like today when the reality of my life hits me. It’s wild to think that a collection of choices led me here, and that if even one of them hadn’t happened, I would be living a completely different life.

I remember when I was 22, my friend group was having a conversation about whether we believed in reincarnation and whether we wanted it to be real. I said, “I believe so, so I can get reincarnated again and again and get to experience life in different places, really see the world, and experience other cultures.”

At that point, I had gotten my dental school admission, and I thought I would finish dental school, hopefully become an orthodontist, have my own practice, and then occasionally see my family on the other side of the world.

It was on a trip to Bali the summer before dental school started that I realized what kind of life I wanted to live. More than anything, I wanted a life where I had the freedom to choose where to work from, how to work, who to work with, and where I could visit my family 2–3 months out of the year instead of 2–4 weeks.

Instead of saying, “Maybe in another life,” I chose this life. And that decision brought me here: being a software engineer, living in different countries, meeting amazing people, and scaling my own company.

It has not been an easy journey. There were countless moments when I doubted myself, and there are still those moments even now. Despite those, I believe I’m building a life that is truly mine. I’m so grateful that I’ve taken all the risks and overcome all the challenges to get here.

Kinda chic to turn your own dreams into reality, one by one 🤭

A Kendra appreciation post 🥹. This is the girl who has always been on my side since our college days. We’ve experienced a lot together, and I could always count on her to be both an advisor and a friend. This is the same girl who toured apartments for me while I was off-island, who got up at 3 a.m. to pick me up from the airport, and so much more 🥰

@_kendraclaire I appreciate so much the woman you are. From your willingness to be there for your friends to just everything about you as a person. I love your drive, your discipline, your consideration for everyone around you, and your desire to always do good. I’m grateful I got to know you & @alexsierra_17 . You both made my time in Puerto Rico feel like home.

Side note: You guys are the one couple who makes me think marriage is worth it. Couple goals fr 🤌

A love letter to Puerto Rico 💌
I’ve always felt most alive on the road, but maybe what I’ve been needing is a place that both challenges me and gives me a sense of belonging. That’s what Puerto Rico has come to mean to me.

I can’t decide what I loved most: the beautiful beaches, the vibrant salsa community, amazing nightlife, the gorgeous waterfalls, incredible sunsets, or all the wonderful people I met and their zest for life.

It was the most amazing 1.5 months working remotely from here. Work didn’t feel like work when every evening ended with a sunset walk by the ocean 🥰

Puerto Rico is an absolute treasure, and I’m grateful I got to spend meaningful time here. More than anything, I’m thankful for everyone I met. You all made my time here truly unforgettable.
