❤️ We had a GREAT Red Ribbon/Safety Week at PGJH! ❤️
We couldn’t do it without our amazing collaboration with @pgcares! Together, we practiced safety drills, signed our drug-free pledge poster, searched for mini safety cones, celebrated students who dressed up, and held a class competition! 🎉
Congratulations to our 5 winning classes who earned a special treat from @chickfila_utah! 🐔🍟
Thank you to everyone who helped make this week fun, engaging, and meaningful for our Vikings! We love working together to keep our students safe, healthy, and drug-free! ❤️💙

Healthy choices start long before a difficult choice shows up. They grow through confidence, connection, coping skills, trusted adults and knowing you have somewhere to turn. That’s why PG Cares believes prevention starts with CONNECTION. by @pgcares

You don't need the perfect words. Talking to kids about vaping, alcohol and drugs doesn't need to be one giant, awkward conversation. Start small. Ask what they're seeing at school. Ask what they think. Listen more than you lecture. Keep the door open for the next conversation. by @pgcares

One of the most powerful things we can give our kids is connection.

A conversation in the car.
Dinner together.
Showing up to their game.
Knowing their friends.
Asking one more question.

The little things really aren't so little. by @pgcares

PG Cares Youth of the Month.
Kaiya Torgerson
Kaiya is a 7 th grader this year at Pleasant Grove Jr. High.

Kaiya was nominated for PG’s Teen of the month because she is always trying her best at school, helping other students, is friends with all and includes others who may be new. She also is a part of the Choose Kindness club and volunteers at church. She has helped at her old Elementary school with PTA events and is a great role model for her younger siblings. Kaiya is the middle child of a family of 7. She has a silly side and a serious side and knows when to use them. She loves school and is a wonderful, loving, reliable young lady.
Congratulations Kaiya!! We commend you for being an amazing example in our community! Your influence is seen and noticed by others. Keep up the great work and keep making a difference!! by @pgcares

PG Cares Youth of the Month

Kruse Warnick
Kruse is one of the most polite young men I have ever met. He consistently says "please" and "thank you". He even asks how he can help around my house when he
is over hanging out with my son. He goes out of his way to make others feel welcome. Whenever my son or other boys his age hang out with him, they tend to
make wiser decisions. They include others, and because of his example, they stand up for what is right. Kruse is a very hard worker. Whatever sport he is playing, he tends to lead by example with hard work and dedication. He is completely kind, supportive of everyone's well-being, and considerate to everyone he plays with. He inspires others to work harder and to put in more effort, all while remaining kind and
uplifting. I have noticed that my own son is a better person around him, and because of that, I am so grateful they are friends.
Congratulations Kruse!! We commend you for being an amazing example in our community! Your influence is seen and noticed by others. Keep up the great work and keep making a difference!! by @pgcares

Prevention doesn't happen in one big conversation.

It happens through hundreds of little moments:
 Listening.
 Encouraging.
 Showing up.
 Staying connected.

Thank you for helping make Pleasant Grove a community where young people feel supported and empowered to make healthy choices. by @pgcares

The first weeks of school can be a lot—new schedules, early mornings, activities, homework, lunches, and trying to get everyone back into a routine.

So today, give your family permission to slow down.

Skip something that can wait.
Put the phones away for a little while.
Take a walk.
Eat together.
Rest.
Ask, “How are you feeling about school so far?”

Sometimes self-care isn't adding one more thing to the schedule. It's making a little more room in it. by @pgcares

The best time to talk about vaping isn't after there's a problem.

It's before.

Simple, honest conversations throughout childhood help kids build confidence and make healthier decisions as they grow.

Keep the conversation going. by @pgcares
