32nd Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2025 ⛰️
“The Race to the Sky” , one of the most brutal yet beautiful mountain races in the world, and part of the Skyrunner World Series.

Last year, I didn’t make it to the peak due to the strict cut-off time, 3 hours from the start line to the summit for men elite. It was painful to stop halfway knowing I still had more to give.

This year, with the cut-off extended to 3 hours and 30 minutes, I was blessed to be selected again for another chance to stand on this mountain. I told myself, this will be my last attempt, so I must give everything I have.

My preparation this time was completely different, not just physically, but mentally.
Countless stair climbs, mental conditioning, and the most important part, acclimatizing and allowing my body to recover and relax before race day.

When the race began, I focused on just one goal: reach the peak within the cut-off time.
No phone, no photos, no videos, just me against the mountain. Step by step, breath by breath.

And what kept me going, even when my body wanted to stop, was the motivation from the one person who means the most to me, always in my heart, always my reason to push harder. 🫶🏽

Finally, I did it.
I reached the peak.
This moment means so much more than just finishing a race, it’s about redemption, perseverance, and closing a chapter that once felt unfinished.

Mount Kinabalu, you tested me again and this time, I conquered you. 🏔️🔥🤘🏽

My Official Time: 31:51:29 Hrs

One of the most brutal and technical ultra trail races in Indonesia after Rinjani100 and great fully, I made it to the finish line.

From midnight at Kaliandra Resort to the summit of Welirang and back again to Arjuno, the 116KM journey through the Arjuno-Welirang mountains tested every ounce of endurance, patience, and willpower I had. The steep ascents, freezing altitudes over 3,000m, technical descents, and endless climbs. It was beyond just running, it was a fight within.

A massive thank you to the race organizers and crews, every water station was not just a checkpoint, but a source of energy, warmth, and motivation. The food, support, and smiles made a huge difference.

@loklang_ , thank you for being more than just a companion on the trail. Your motivation and support, checkpoint to checkpoint, kept me going strong. We’ve done this before, and we did it again. Chiang Mai was one of our best memories, and this race just added another epic chapter to our journey together. Without you, I wouldn’t have made it. Truly grateful, brother.

To my TRAINING family, thank you for being part of this insane journey.

🌟 Coach @roshidah_benjamat , Massive respect for finishing the 116KM strong and steady!
You both are my backbone. Your support, presence, and constant encouragement gave me the strength to keep going. Without your energy and motivation, I might have failed too.

And my deepest appreciation goes to @twtmarathon for the opportunity to be on the start line. I’m truly grateful for the support, and this experience meant a lot to me, not just as a runner, but as someone who deeply appreciates the community and the journey behind every trail.

This wasn’t just a race, it was a lesson in resilience. A reminder of why we do what we do.
The medal may be heavy, but the journey was heavier.

17 May 2025, A date I’ll never forget. I took on one of the most grueling trail ultramarathons in Southeast Asia, the Rinjani100 (60KM) and came out a finisher. 60 kilometers of relentless elevation, technical terrain, volcanic ash, chilling winds, and scorching sun. Every step was a battle, but every view was a reward. 🌋☁️

🏔️ Elevation Gain: Brutal.
🌦️ Weather: Unpredictable.
🪨 Terrain: Loose gravel, volcanic rocks, steep climbs, and crazy downhills.
🥵 Mental Game: Tested to the limit.

Despite the unforgiving conditions, I crossed that finish line after 19 hours and 7 minutes, ranking 35th overall. Numbers aside, this medal represents grit, perseverance, and a deep love for the mountains.

Standing on Rinjani Summit at 3,726m ASL was a surreal moment. The pain faded, but the memory of that view will last forever.

Another unforgettable journey through the Cameron Highlands.

This race was even more special because I had the opportunity to run side by side with a strong woman @roshidah_benjamat . Having just recovered from dengue, she showed incredible determination and heart. From the start line to the finish line, we stayed together, motivating, supporting, and pushing each other through every climb, descent, and difficult moment. Finishing this race together is a memory we’ll always cherish.

The route took us across:
📍 Gunung Jasar
📍 Gunung Brinchang Barat
📍 BOH Sungai Palas
📍 Gunung Berembun
📍 BOH Habu

Every mountain had to be conquered twice, making every climb and descent a true test of endurance.

The toughest section without a doubt was Gunung Berembun. The trail was already technical and muddy, but it became even more challenging with heavy traffic. The first climb was shared with around 2,300 runners from the 60KM, 30KM Day, and 14KM categories. On the second climb, we crossed paths with the 14KM Night runners. Technical terrain, deep mud, congestion, and constant two-way traffic demanded extra patience, focus, and teamwork.

Despite the bottlenecks and relentless climbs, the atmosphere, volunteers, race crew, breathtaking Cameron Highlands scenery and of course my trail family (Syah, Raimy, Pakndakk, Sarol and Abg Masri) made every step worthwhile.

🏔️ SINTRAX 2026 | 60KM DUO CHAMPION 🏁

One Journey. One Purpose. One Finish.

Completed Sintok Trail Experience (SINTRAX) 60KM DUO with my brother and pacer, Sheqal. 💪

This wasn’t just about crossing the finish line. It was about teamwork, trust, and pushing each other through every climb, descent, and tough moment. Thank you, bro, for never giving up on me and for constantly motivating each other until the very end. We earned this finish together. 🤝🔥

As for the event… honestly, everything was on point.

✅ Route marking was crystal clear
✅ Challenging and enjoyable course
✅ Well-stocked water stations
✅ Amazing volunteers and crews
✅ Smooth race management from start to finish

A huge thank you to the management team, Race Director, Trail Master, organizers, water station crews, marshals, photographers, medical team, and every volunteer who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Your dedication made this one of the best trail races I’ve experienced. Every detail was handled professionally. Top-notch from start to finish. 👏

And the route?

Don’t ask me… come and experience it yourself. 😏⛰️

Can’t wait to return for the 100KM next year. Let’s see what SINTRAX has prepared for us. 😁🔥

Tunnel 100K Finisher ✅

Every step through the jungle, every climb in the dark, every moment of pain and doubt led to this finish line.
Not just a race against distance, but a journey against my own limits.

The body gets tired, the legs suffer, but the heart keeps moving forward.

Conquer nature, connect culture and suffer a little on the climbs 😆⛰️

The Telipong Trail Run
25KM category (24KM actual)
+1000m elevation gain
Super runnable course but that final loose rock downhill really tested the legs and focus.

Finished 5th Men Open & Top 10 overall with a time of 2:49:56.
