Champion of the Kashmari is an epic fantasy book set in an early-industrial era world where humans have been subjugated by evil body-stealing demons. The main character is a gladiator who works for one of these demons. Humans are forbidden to use magic, but this gladiator uses it to win his fights, and if anyone learns of it, especially his boss, he will be put to death. Amazon Link in Bio! Cadmus Brand’s life as a champion gladiator in the Kashmari City-States affords him every luxury a man could ask for: wealth, prestige, and the adoration of his fans. But the one thing the gladiator truly longs for, a family, is out of reach because he has a terrible secret that would put a wife and children in unrelenting danger. Brand is the last surviving member of an ancient order of pharmakons, a group of alchemists who brew elixirs that enhance their natural abilities, giving them superhuman speed, strength, and agility. The pharmakons of old were hated by the kashmari lords because they were the only ones strong enough to fight a kashmari. If Brand’s kashmari patron, the city lord of Darnan, finds out about the gladiator’s secret, Brand and everyone he loves will be put to death. He’s determined never to let that happen. But then he falls in love with a beautiful, dangerous kashmari lady, ends up fighting for his life, and becomes entangled in a race for an artifact that could endanger all life on the desert world of Muspelheim. #fantasybooks #epicfantasy #epicfantasynovels by @pharmakonprime

I’m an epic fantasy author who loves to be spooked (and very occasionally scared) but not terrified. I prefer a heavy dose of comedy with my horror, though that’s not strictly necessary if the story doesn’t stray too deep into horror. This month, I’ve read The Dark Cry of Aristid by William Brian Johnson. It’s an awesome dark Norse fantasy that really sucked me in. I’m also reading Hair Raising by Kevin J. Anderson, a zombie detective comedy book and will be rereading Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett. What are you reading this October? Do you like your Halloween stories to scare the pants off you? #fantasybooks #halloweenreads #octoberreading by @pharmakonprime

Writing relies on momentum and sometimes it’s dangerous to get hung up on a name when you’re in a flow state. So instead of stopping, I just put a brief note to myself that (hopefully) will pop out at me while editing. Very useful, but it does make my drafts look kind of funny when I go back and have to decipher my notes 😂 #authorlife #scifiauthor #fantasyauthor by @pharmakonprime

Maw of the Abyss, Book 3 of the Emberlight Archive, is now available for Pre-Order! Link in bio Right after the events of Mark of the Dying Light, Torin Keth is reeling from an emotional rollercoaster. But he has no chance to recover as he is immediately swept up in a hunt for a former Confederate senator-turned mass murderer. The chase stretches across the planet-wide capital of the Confederacy, Melkaris, from the gleaming spires of the apartments of the rich and famous, down to the putrid squalor of the poor and dying. Here, the murderer need only vanish into a warren to never been seen again. If Keth wants to catch his quarry, he must learn to use those who will try to use him back, and accept the aid of the rich and corrupt. The deeper he goes, the more entangled he becomes. #scifibooks #scifiauthor #bountyhunter #bookstagram by @pharmakonprime

They say we are supposed to “prove” that our books are written by us and not AI now. I don’t blame people for being suspicious, but I do think it’s a sad reflection of the sorry state of the world we live in, that we can’t trust people to tell the truth. I have used AI in my covers in the past, and decided a) it wasn’t any good, and b) it wasn’t a good representation of the human-made book within. So I switched to doing all my own art, including covers. I’m very proud of my books now, cover to cover and everything in between. I’ve never used AI in my writing. I write because I love it. I’ve come to embrace and love the imperfections in my writing because it is ME. I’m not perfect and that’s ok. I do not use AI in my writing now, nor will I in the future. If people don’t believe me, oh well. I know the truth, and I’ll tell it to anybody who listens. #scifiauthor #scifibooks #author #indieauthor by @pharmakonprime

Ah, the joys of being a small business owner! This made me laugh this morning. This weekend, I’m going to Oktoberfest and thought I’d bring along some bookish trinkets, but for that, I needed to stamp my logo on some cards. I thought I had the perfect solution—I’ll just 3d print a stencil! Not so fast, JLJ—My logo has several bits that in a stencil would end up floating in free space, so it won’t work without modifying the stencil. I might do that still, if I have time. by @pharmakonprime
