SAVE and SHARE with your coworkers if you can relate to the beautiful chaos of healthcare life! 🥼✨

For many of us in healthcare, a true “lunch break” sometimes doesn’t exist. Most days for me, refueling looks like a quick, nutrient-dense yogurt bowl right at my desk while catching up on patient charts and other administrative tasks.

The clinic weeks can be incredibly fast-paced, unpredictable, and exhausting. But at the end of the day, I love the direct patient care, the tangible impact we get to make in oncology, and the incredible clinical team I get to work alongside every single shift. 🤍

To everyone working the floor, charting at their desks, and taking care of patients today: make sure you’re taking a second to refuel, too. 🥣

What does your busy work-day lunch usually look like? Drop it in the comments! 👇

💊 My Pharmacy Journey: From Dream to Reality⁣⁣
⁣
Becoming an oncology clinical pharmacist was a long road, but every step has been worth it. From my early days as a pharmacy technician to my challenging yet incredibly fulfilling role in oncology today, I couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone around me. ⁣
📚 The Beginning⁣
Pharmacy school wasn’t easy! I still remember those late-night study sessions and tough clinical rotations. But every challenge helped shape me into the pharmacist I am today. UCSF prepared me for what was to come, and I’m forever grateful for the experience.⁣⁣

⁣
💪 Taking Care of Myself⁣

A pharmacist’s take on sushi night. 🍣🩺✨

When I’m looking for a nutrient-dense meal, sushi is easily one of my go-to choices. Raw salmon and tuna are packed with high-quality lean protein and essential Omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart and brain health.

We recently visited @OpusSushi in LA and were so impressed by the freshness of their fish!

Here is what we ordered:
✨ Fresh Sashimi Platter (Uni, Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail)
🥢 Tuna & Uni Rice Bowl
🔥 Seared Beef Tongue
🍣 Specialty Rolls

If you’re looking for a solid, reliable sushi spot with incredible quality cuts in LA, save this post for your next food run! Great spot for dining out on Labor Day!📍

What’s your absolute must-order item when you get sushi? 👇

POV: your oncology pharmacist survived another 12hr day at the hospital 🥲

Some days call for a salad. Other days call for authentic, hand-pulled Xi’an street food. 🍜

My post-shift prescription tonight: carbs and chili oil from Noodle Art. They bring legit Xian flavors straight to LA, and it hits so good when you’re running on fumes.

Their biang biang noodles are super broad, chewy, and tossed in aromatic hot pepper oil—I went with the tomato egg, potato, and braised pork combo as toppings. And if you’ve never had liangpi (cold skin noodles), the tangy, spicy sauce over those chilled noodles is elite. #noodlelover #laeater #lafood #spicynoodles #handmadenoodles

As a pharmacist, I love keeping almond snacks at my desk 🥜

They’re convenient, nutritious, and actually delicious. Currently obsessed with the ones from @spiritalmond and loving all of their Asian-inspired flavors.

🥼Did you know a handful of almonds has roughly 77 mg of magnesium? I’m definitely tracking my magnesium for sleep, muscle health, and general wellness — can’t say no to a quick, delicious snack that helps me hit my goals!

Save this for your next grocery run 🛒 and tag someone who needs a snack upgrade 👇

What should you ask your pharmacist? Honest answer from a pharmacist 💊

Every new prescription gets screened against everything else you take — prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, supplements, even foods. Your pharmacists help make sure you’re using the medications safely and effectively.

3 questions worth asking:

1. Can I take this with my other medications?
2. What about supplements or over-the-counter meds?
3. Are there foods or drinks I should avoid with this?

Save this for your next pharmacy visit or doctors appointment 💊 tag someone who takes more than one med 👇

POV: your oncology pharmacist takes Capitol Hill 🏛️💊

Spent a day with @hoparx advocating for cancer patients — because our job doesn’t end at the pharmacy counter or cancer clinic. We brief, we meet, we walk (so. much. walking.), and yes, we refuel like pharmacists: efficiently 😌

Pharmacists don‘t just dispense meds. We shape policy.

👇 Did you know oncology pharmacists do this kind of advocacy work? Drop your thoughts below!

Someone told me recently: “It’s a privilege to be tired from the work you once dreamed for.”

It made me pause. On one hand, it’s a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come. There was a time when I would have given anything to be sitting in the very seat I sit in today.

But on the other hand? Gratitude doesn’t negate exhaustion. I can be thankful for my journey and still need rest. Loving what I do doesn’t mean giving it every last drop of my energy.

Hold gratitude for the dream, but hold space for your human limits, too. 🤍

What’s your perspective on this quote? 👇

Is pharmacy residency actually worth it? 🩺👇

Yes. Even if you asked me during a 6:00 AM pre-rounding session or in the middle of a complex research project, I would have told you it’s an absolute grind, but my answer would still be yes. Residency is undeniably challenging—but looking back as an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist, I would choose this path every single time.

For me, this investment was completely worth it. Here’s why:

💎 The Clinical Shift: It bridges the gap between textbook pharmacy school competence and real-world, advanced clinical judgment. It’s where you develop quick, problem-solving skills and learn to navigate high-stakes, real-time decision-making.

🧠 Mastering a Specialty: Moving into a specialized second year allows you to narrow your focus entirely into advanced cancer therapeutics, complex regimens and toxicities. You transition from understanding how drugs work to managing intricate, individualized patient care.

🤝 A Seat at the Table: Ultimately, it builds the clinical confidence required to collaborate daily with oncologists, design prescribing protocols, and serve as a crucial safety checkpoint for oncology patients on their toughest days.

The residency grind will test you, but if your goal is high-level clinical autonomy and direct specialist care, the payoff is unmatched.

📌 Save this post for your journey, and let’s talk in the comments: If you did a residency, what made it worth it for you? If you’re a student, what questions do you have about the grind?
