I'm really excited to finally share the results of one of my greatest adventures this year! On the 14th of July I went to Paris for a @nlvogue shoot with @marie_wynants !

It was my second time being an animal handler on a shoot, both of those shoots took place in the same week and I was in the midst of writing my thesis. You could say it was a rollercoaster 😆. But I'm so glad I took a break from working and drove my animals to Paris so that they could shine!

My biggest goal with @phas_media is showing the wonderful world of phasmids to as many people as possible. Preferably in interesting, creative ways. Photoshoots are a perfect medium for this, so I would love to do plenty more in the future!

Thank you @leahzonneveld for contacting me and inviting me to this amazing opportunity.
And also a big thanks to @marie_wynants and the rest of the team for letting my stick and leaf insects be part of such mesmerizing pictures!

Booooo! 👻

🪾 Did you know that phasmid - another name for stick and leaf insects - comes from the Greek word phasma, meaning phantom or specter? You could say I have a lot of ghosts in my house!

🎃 Happy Halloween!

We're ready for Halloween! 🎃

These stick insects wanted to dress up as old Egyptian ghosts, you could say they're "phasmummies" 😄

Enjoy the spooky season! 👻

A face hug from a stick bug! 🌿

👉 In the spirit of Halloween week, send this to someone who would love to let this beautiful giant stick insect crawl on their face!

It's fall 🍂

This didn't hurt the leaf (insect), she's fine! Stick and leaf insects are tougher than they look and often let themselves drop from way up high to escape being eaten.

This moth has zero chill

Moths are usually known as calm, graceful insects, but this Madagascar bullseye (Antherina suraka) shows they can throw quite the tantrum 😂.
