Congratulations to my student @esaialiquo and her Grandfather Don Aliquo Sr on their long awaited CD release at @uncorkedpgh last Saturday! I started working with this dynamic duo back in 2022, and it’s been such a beautiful journey ever since! Grateful to her parents @drealiquovarela_aka_viva and @westley_1971 for the opportunity to work with their incredible child! Everybody run to your nearest streaming station and play her record “Inherited Groove”, or buy one off of her at a gig! I produced this project at The Church Recording Studio with engineer Dana Cannone @thechurchrecordingstudio, and we featured some amazing Pittsburgh jazz musicians Joe DeFazio 🎹, Bruce Wallace 🎻, Tony Martucci 🥁, Benjamin May 🎻

Truly lovely concert last week at @thunderbirdmusichall by the lovely and talented humans in the seemingly indefatigable power band, Austin’s swamp funk darlings @shinyribs! I don’t know how much of their tour they have left but if you haven’t checked them out, I sincerely recommend you do! If anyone knows the Insta tags of the band members please tag them here in the comments so they see my pics please!!! What a truly wonderful evening of original and originally rendered classics. I will never not go see them every time I get the opportunity to do so! Grateful to @frontporchfest for bringing them to my attention!! #swampfunk #austin #livemusic #pittsburghaustinconnection #austinmusicscene taken in Thunderbird Café & Music Hall by @phatmandee

Media Explosion 2 of 2

As I go through these pictures from last week, I’m just touched by how much creative energy, love, and care that went into this beautiful festival. I was there with people who I have known through music for decades, and being able to meet their fellow creative peers and family that they also have loved and made music with for decades was just so special! Grateful to my friends Sheque Baba aka @eutsler.scott and Billy Woods for inviting me to be part of the magic that is @onefamilyproductions_va @frontporchfest at Spirithaven in the only Patrick County in The World!

I loved singing with Molly of @thejudychops and Amber Collier and just everyone in the All Stars Band!!! Should I put up a clip of me singing 9 to 5 with the Front Porch Family All Stars Band???? If so comment below and I hope to see you in the Blue Ridge Mountains sometime next year too!

Facepaint shout out to my dear friend @madelyn_greco who I hadn’t seen in far too long!

Media Explosion 1 of 2
I put a couple photos up while I was out there, and I hit the ground running as soon as I got back, but I would be terribly remiss and not sharing all of the photos I took at the incredible @frontporchfest at Spirithaven Farm in the only Patrick County in the whole world! I can’t say enough lovely things about the beautiful people of @onefamilyproductions_va who built this incredible event. I myself was put on the gig pretty last minute this year, my dear friend, Mr. Billy Woods who has been telling me about this event for a long time. This year it worked out that I could come, and my dear friend, Mr. Scott Eustler, who owns the land with his wife Kay and their lovely family, was equally insistent that I make my way to the Blue Ridge Mountains to be part of their singularly lovely gathering. Im so thankful i did!! I’m blessed to play music with incredible people, and when they ask me to come play music with the people, they love. I find it to be an incredible honor. The musicians I heard blew me away. Their artistry, passion, and dedication, evidenced by each and every wonderful songwriter, instrumentalist, vocalist, crewmember, volunteer, organizer, artist, just all the wonderful people who gathered to create this wonderful expression of love and music, their attention to the details just bowled me over.

It is my understanding this production helps to fight hunger in their area. G-d willing and the creek don’t rise, I will return to this event next year. I absolutely fell in love with everybody I met there this year! Truly grateful to bassist Mr. Malcolm Fields of Atlanta, GA for including me in the All-Star jam on Sunday night, it was truly just so lovely to share the stage with so many incredible artists. Can’t wait to see everybody next year! It was my honor and i look forward to the next time we cross paths in song!!!! taken in Spirithaven by @phatmandee
