Decided to try an #ASMR 🔊🔊🔊 video for the first time. I love music so much that this was hard to omit that. At any rate, it’s a work in progress. More importantly is I thought about those viral TiKy ToKy smash taco Big Mac-ish videos and thought, why not actually make them suckers taco seasoned? Flipitupandreverseit like.

So, this is what I came up with…

Did you know that both nigiri and sashimi bento boxes (aka omakase) are back at @wakame_sushimn now? This nigiri one rang in at 30 bucks as is and was fabulous. They are on the specials menu with rolls on the opposite side.

And I can never leave my favorite sushi joint without some hot & spicy girl and crazy monkey along with some Sake!

Annie has hit the main stage at @chanhassendt and let me just say, it was marvelous and gave you all the feels when the orphans gathered for their first number, Hard Knock Life. This is definitely an all ages show that many will see multiple times during its run through February 2027. Favorites were easily all the orphan performances. Shout out to Lucy Anderson who played Molly— she was the most entertaining star throughout. The singing, the facial expressions, the acting...she nailed it all.

Are you aware you can now get the famous Chicken Chanhassen at Kowalski’s locally here in Minnesota? It is in the freezer section and goes for about $22 and comes with 2 portions in one box. So, naturally I compared the real deal to the new frozen entree.

I’ll tell you right away that it doesn’t compare to getting it at a show. While most things frozen and baked at home typically don’t compare to the actual restaurant— in this case I just felt the portion is a bit small as I could easily house the entire box and felt good about it. It came with 4 carrots total and I’m only showing the single portion I ate and as you can see from the night I had it at Annie, they do a nice medley of vegetables and quite a bit more. The flavors of the frozen version are still there and very comparable to the original. You heat up a packet of the hollandaise sauce in the microwave and it actually works well. They did a pretty good job overall, I would just like to see the portion better for the price point. It would be great to get for people that can not attend or that live out of state who crave it or even to bring to the cabins and such. Yes, I’d have it again.

While dining the evening of Annie I also shared some complimentary cheese spread and crackers along with a shrimp cocktail, Orange Roughy, chocolate cake for 2 and their new show special, Hard Knock Life Sangria in a collectors glass.

As always, a splendid evening at CDT with the show starting at 7:30 and ending just at 10p. Wined, dined and amazed. Couldn’t ask for a better night out. Go see Annie!!

Fall seasonal menu drops are upon us and @kitchenandrail is always a favorite restaurant of mine that I fully take advantage of when they offer them. They have 3 new drinks and plenty of new dinner items to choose from. Some are back and some just simply need to stick around. They have 2 locations, Golden Valley and Eagan. Make sure you make reservations at the right and let me know what you think of this Nothin’ But a Good Thyme limited time menu. Tis the season, y’all…take advantage!

PART 2 of 2

Now as the sun sets and the fog begins to disperse the circuit breaker is switched on and @greatpumpkintrail takes over the night here at @pinehavenfarm. 15,000 lighted displays and pumpkins give off a haunting but friendly glow. Just like around the farm there are plenty of photo opps along with all your favorite characters to search for. The thing that keeps us coming back is the overall experience and my nephews literally can’t stop talking about it every year around this time. It’s definitely a good time and all ages friendly. Sure there’s a few creepy characters but nothing intentional to scare you.

One of the cool additions this year is the broom ride where eager kids and parents alike patiently wait to get a video or photo opp on this new full 360° turntable-style slow and safe ride.

But the most sought out attraction here is the lighted stepping stone path. Good luck getting your kids off these. I think it took me an hour.

My bit of advice is to go partake in the corn pit after the great pumpkin trail, it ends up turning into a little disco light rave for the kids after dark. Plus it seems a little less occupied at that time.

Alright, last but not least ya grab a pizza from the @ogzaza_trailer food truck and grab a front row picnic table and enjoy one of the several fire shows put on by @northern_lights_performance_mn before calling it a night. That’s unless you’re still up to going the @thedeadendhayride, also on the same grounds. Tickets are still available for all 3 attractions here! Take advantage of the best season ever!

PART 1 of 2

It’s that time of the year again when the family and I head out of the cities to our favorite Fall & Halloween outdoor destination, @pinehavenfarm, to enjoy all the festivities and fun they have to offer. When you first walk-in you step into the common area which is filled with many picnic tables, fire pits and a variety of local food trucks. With @quevietconcessions making their debut this year, that was most definitely the 1st stop. They are offering an exclusive addition to their already addictive iced coffee which is cookie butter cold foam w/ biscoff crumbles + cookie on top. They just raised the bar! Paired lovely w/ their garlic cream cheese wontons, too. Hillbilly Bob’s Fry Shack makes it return this year and Young Neph always enjoys their nuggz & fries. @minnesota_frost_and_flame_bbq is also back again this year, went with their fan favorite Loaded Minnemac + brisket. It’s a $22 bowl and worth every penny. They certainly deliver on taste, texture and portion. They didn’t even have to make a post requesting me, I just went. Did a mixture of Puck’s Habanero Heat + Sweet & Smokey recommended by the staff. Perfection. Frost & Flame Brat also came fully loaded w/ beans + mac that was shared and enjoyed amongst us. Grabbed some mini donuts and headed off to the beer garden for some cold cans to enjoy while partaking in the activities. We are talking interactive trivia games, paintball shooting (which is a nice shelter if trying to dodge the rain), basketball, skeet ball, tug-of-war, obstacles courses, ladder toss, apple blasters, skill games, seated zipline, plenty of photo ops for all ages, there is even a petting zoo with a nice variety of cute & hungry animals to interact with and feed. Then before the sun sets you grab some farm fresh fried donuts before heading into the @greatpumpkintrail that is back for the 3rd year.

As of today there are 13 dates left to get tickets & attend Pinehaven Farm. It’s always cheaper buying in advance online and range from $16-23 (depending on day) for all ages over 2yrs. Parking is free.

Just here to confirm and inform that @station_no6_foodtruck continues to consistently put out nothing but bangers whether it be from the food truck or in this case at Rosetown American Legion Post 542 in Roseville where Chef/Owner Josh has a pop-up residency until 12/30/2026. Stay tuned for what’s next for him and Station No. 6.

Go support at this location as best you can for the next 3 months and don’t forget, he slays the catering. Sooo book that!

I finally found my sanctuary! Espresso martinis and weenies? I mean, c’mon!

Only thing is, this joint that beats to my familiar rhythm, it just happens to be located in Newport, RI.

Nearly two dozen dressed up hot dogs to choose from along with almost the same amount of smash burgers AND espresso martinis - this place is heaven for a guy like me.

They also do martini trees, burger towers and weenie towers. If that isn’t enough, they are also the home of the dog bowls, which are 30oz drinks made for sharing. Not enough? Want more? Sure, then ask for The Giant Espresso Martini which comes in a 48oz glass or the biggest and baddest Spritzzilla which comes in a hefty 112oz glass. Because they believe in one simple model here, sharing is caring.

The variety of flavors they offer for everything is a fun challenge to accept. I did what I could on this very first visit with the fam but, I’ll be back for sure.

WIENERS:

Wally - Bacon + peppers + onions + wally sauce.
Girl Dinner - Caesar salad + parmaseancheese + fries.
Dirty Dog - Split & grilled 1/4 lb. all-beef dog topped with a smashed & chopped burger patty + peppers + onions + American cheese + Wally sauce. Got 2 of these!

FRIES:

Crab Fries - Old bay seasoned + side of cheese sauce.

Pico Party Fries - Cheddar cheese sauce + bacon + pico de gallo + chipotle aioli.

ESPRESSO MARTINIS:

All of ‘em! Shown in the menu above - just swipe!

Favorites were the following 2:

Almond Joy - Margaritaville coconut tequila + amaretto + Omara’s Irish cream + espresso.

Funfetti - Grainger’s vanilla vodka + Borghetti espresso liqueur + cake batter syrup + Irish cream + espresso + sprinkles.

Yup, they all have different liquors. Be prepared to get turnt up!

If you’re like me and travel for food, put this on your list. What started out as a dog cart 7-years ago has bloomed into a truck and brick & mortars. They are doing something right and I’m glad it was on my list and I got to experience them. Definitely won’t be my last visit.

I believe this spread says it all. But, in the event that you like words here’s several..

@thesidedooratdexters officially fully opens today at 11am with ALL three of its concepts. It’s the sister restaurants to @dextersmpls. Dexter’s Angels? Or, perhaps a ménage à trois. It’s literally their side door.
Whatever you wanna call them, you’re getting a delightful variety of quality food at a one-stop-shop coming out in the dopest takeout containers.

@luciasmpls has been open for 6-weeks now and serves thin, sourdough NY-inspired slices and whole 18” pizzas along with salads and wraps.

@daqdaqmpls serves Korean double fried chicken with several glaze options along with Dan Dan Noodles, Gochujang Spicy Rigatoni and Cacio e Pepe Rice Cakes,

@rosesushimpls serves Nigiri, Maki and Chirashi along with Edamame, Shrimp Tempura, Seaweed Salad and Cream Cheese Wontons. With a build-your-own-box option as well.

Beer, soju, bubble teas and wine complete the pairing with all the above options.

I hold everything I ate in high regard. I was thoroughly impressed on this soft opening last night and I didn’t even try everything they offer. I believe you’ll be equally stunned.

You can still walk over and order anything from Dexter’s as I did with my espresso martini I craved.

I highly enjoyed the 3 food trucks I grubbed on this past weekend. 2 were at the @lucelinebrewing Food Truck Rally and 1 was from the @nwfoodtruckfestmn in Savage. All of these items I tried and am sharing I would easily enjoy again. Which is why I’m posting them. If you haven’t tried any of these, maybe list them. At the same time, anything you tried from a food truck that I absolutely must try that you think I haven’t? Drop those recs below. 👇🏼⬇️

Old MacDonald from @bcbc_eats is a back-to-back champ at the Annual Burger Brawl as well as a local favorite. It is made of 2 well seasoned 1/4 pound 81/19 ground chuck patties + American cheese + special sauce + onions + romaine ribbons all on a griddled brioche bun.

It might not have the crusted sear on the patties as most smash burgers around do but what they do offer is their secret seasoning incorporated into each patty as well as a fantastic overall bite that gives a soft and delicious mouthfeel that you keep going back for. It’s different than most and that’s why it stands out. They also use this secret seasoning in their special sauce as well as in their sour cream for the chip dip. It contains cayenne and that’s about all I know for sure. Adding a scratch made caramel treat to every order is just love. $19 shown. Paired with a tap Star of the North light lager from @lucelinebrewing where I enjoyed BCBC for my first time.

The burger you didn’t know you needed.

Mango Sticky Rice and Turkey Leg from @kaoping_ is a dinner and dessert combo I created and wanted ever since the weekend before when I fell in love with their papaya platter. Mango is almost out of season and they make this dish so delicately scrumptious. Perfectly cooked/steamed sticky rice that is nice and warm with a nice splash of coconut cream. It has just the right amount of sweetness.

Their turkey leg is smoked and then slowly grilled with a little seasoned oil to give it a nice char and crisp skin. It’s served with their house sauce which is an addiction all on its own. It is a thicker fish sauce with a nice kick to it. The leg is juicy and tender throughout and not injected with extra fluids like some I’ve had in the past. It is just a taken in Minnesota by @phatphood

If I’m in St. Paul and I want outdoor rooftop vibes with a full service restaurant & bar, I’m heading up the stairs at the 91-year-young @thelexmn

In the event that the food, beverages and ambiance just isn’t vibe enough for ya, the hospitality greatness of Shane (@shaneecross), Croix (@croix.raney17) and Andrew (@pickarandrew) will have you coming back 20x fold.

Most definitely check out the seasonal menu options and take advantage of not only those but this rooftop while summer is still summering! The new addition of the sun shades not only give the TV monitor a better view but it adds the perfect amount of SPF without completely shading your experience.

I found the VIRAL colossal cupcake at TARGET right here in Minnesota!!

This is the @originalcrumbs COLOSSAL CUPCAKE‼️

And it was everything and MORE than me and my young neph imagined.

Well, he technically had no clue that he was not only going to see but eat the biggest cupcake he’s ever witnessed.

CRUMBS is a nationwide obsession and this obsession can be found now in the in-store bakery section of select Super Target stores around the metro area (I got mine in Burnsville) these HUGE cupcakes are hiding in plain sight! Too easy!

You have to get one and try for yourself.
