Every now and then, we all need a reminder...

✨You are the light.✨

Not because you have all the answers or never experience doubt, but because your presence, your integrity, and your willingness to show up with courage have the power to illuminate the path for someone else.

Purpose isn't always found in the big moments. More often, it's revealed in the quiet choices we make each day—to lead with compassion, to extend grace, to speak truth with love, to create spaces where others can thrive.

In a world that can feel heavy, uncertain, and divided, don't underestimate the impact of your light.

Someone is waiting for the hope, wisdom, kindness, or encouragement that only you can offer.

Keep shining. The world needs your light—on purpose.

World Ego Awareness Day (May 11, 2026) is an annual global reminder for us to pause and reflect on the subtle ways that our ego informs and shapes our identity and how we think, communicate, relate to others and lead our families, teams and organizations.

The goal is not to eliminate ego, it is not our enemy. The reality is that we all possess an ego for important reasons related to identity, self-preservation, protection, ambition, and our ability to navigate the world.

The challenge is that our human tendency is often to over-identify with ego or overcorrect in its use. For this reason, our goal as leaders is to become self-aware enough that our ego no longer unconsciously leads for us.

In healthy form, ego helps us develop confidence, agency, boundaries, and a sense of self. It is not weak, passive or self-erasing. It is integrated.

In practice, a well cultivated, healthy ego serves as a foundation for our ability to:

🪞Stand firmly without arrogance
🪞Be confident without posturing or performing
🪞Hold authority without needing dominance
🪞Remain teachable regardless of our experience or title

This shift from ego-led to presence-led leadership isn't a one-time choice. It's a hundred small choices that we make each and every day in the friction of REAL moments.

Ultimately, it is often within this courageous inner work that the most transformative and human-centered leadership begins to emerge.

Whether we are in the early stages of our career, a mid-level manager or a seasoned leader, it is easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day grind—the deadlines, the deliverables, the constant motion—that we lose sight of the things that once lit us up about coming to work every day.

Sometimes our original passion, the spark that first inspired us to choose this path can fade without us even realizing it.

It gets buried in the busyness of proving ourselves, juggling competing priorities, striving for flawless execution and simply keeping pace with the relentless rhythm of it all…

This week, let’s get curious and make space for the passion, energy and aliveness that we once had to resurface.

Remember, passion isn’t always loud, urgent or obvious. Oftentimes it is quiet and subtle. It lives in the moments when we feel the most present, aligned and authentically comfortable in our skin.

It shows up as a bright light, an inextinguishable energy 🔥. Work that invigorates rather than depletes, conversations that feel real and generative, impact that is meaningful, not just productive.

This isn’t about going backwards or reliving the past. It is about reconnecting with the essence of what brought us to where we are and to ask how it wants to be expressed and embodied now with who we’ve become and who we are becoming.

While our leadership has evolved, our perspectives have deepened and our worldviews have expanded, the core of what truly matters and our purpose for doing what we do is still there…it’s just waiting to be reawakened.

This is expansion and integration.

Sometimes growth and development isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about giving ourselves permission to more fully BE who we already are.

Interpersonal intelligence is our ability to understand and socially interact with others, and capabilities such as emotional intelligence, relationship-building, communication and influence are (sometimes overly) emphasized in leadership development because they are core to our overall effectiveness. These capabilities are also among the most observable, measurable and tangible to develop, making them easier to teach, assess and reinforce.

And yet, our less visible abilities, the parts of our inner-selves that can be more easily hidden from others, maybe even from ourselves, are just as important for us to cultivate.

Because how we show up with others is shaped long before we actually come into relational contact with them; it is deeply informed by how well we know and relate to ourselves.

It is the internal work.
It is high self-awareness.
It is our ability to notice what’s happening within us in real time.

Intrapersonal intelligence is our ability to turn our attention 180° towards focusing inwardly on our inner-selves and parts of our interiority that are deeply private, personal and essential to our leadership. It is our ability to understand ourselves in real time, notice our internal signals and discern what we are sensing, feeling and knowing beneath the surface.

Let’s see what surfaces when we soften our mental chatter, in-between the pauses, in the breath between decisions, in the moment we choose to not react immediately…

Let’s see what happens when turn our attention inward and listen closely to discern, discover and integrate what we are learning into how we lead.

Have a GREAT week!

This week, I am rooted in presence. I am aware that my posture and energy sets the tone before I enter the room or speak.

Before entering the next room (video or in person) pause and ask: What is the energy that I am bringing into this space, and what do I want others to feel in my presence?

✨✨Our presence (energetically) speaks first.✨✨

As leaders, while we may not notice how our presence can shift the energy in the room, whether virtual or in person, others certainly do.

Our posture, our breath, the quality of our energy—it shapes the room and sets the tone before we even arrive.

People don’t just listen to us, they feel us. They respond to what we carry in our bodies, our pace, our tensions and anxieties, our judgments and questions, our confidence in them (or lack thereof).

So this week, the invitation is to practice arriving with intention, being mindful not to perform presence, but to embody it.

This may look like pausing to soften, ground and clear our minds before the next meeting or conversation. Then begin to notice if the impact of our presence is matching our intention. If not, practice pausing ever so briefly and adjust....our posture, our breath, our thoughts, our emotional energy.

✨✨Because leadership isn’t just what we say or do, it’s how we show up.

No, this isn’t simple. Yet, it is a powerfully impactful practice! Practice being the key. Practice, practice, practice…

What does it actually mean to be a values-grounded leader?

The work of "grounding deeply" is mostly internal and involves regularly reflecting on our values, noticing when we've drifted from them, and having the discipline to course-correct. That inner clarity is what shows up externally as a leader people trust and want to follow.

To center our values is to make them structural, not decorative or performative; not merely ideas we reference, but the operating system we run on. They become the foundation beneath every decision, the source that quietly informs how we choose, how we act, and how we lead.

Here's what that looks like in practice:

⚓️ How Values Anchor Our Decisions
When we face a hard call, whether it is a difficult hire, a budget cut, or an interpersonal conflict, our values act like a compass. Instead of defaulting to what's expedient, popular, or safe, we may ask ourselves: what does integrity (or courage, or fairness) actually require here? In practice, our values act as a filter—narrowing our choices and anchoring them in principles we can confidently stand behind and speak to with clarity.

🧭 How Values Guide Our Actions
Values-grounded leaders consistently use their values as an internal compass. People around us can predict how we will behave because our actions line up with what we say we believe. If we value transparency, we share hard news directly. If we value development, we invest time in people even when it's inconvenient. The gap between stated values and lived behavior is where trust erodes. Grounding ourselves in our values means engaging in a daily practice of consciously closing that gap.

💪🏾 How Values Steady Our Presence
When our identity as a leader is rooted in our values rather than our ego, we are far better equipped to navigate pressure, sit with ambiguity, receive criticism, and hold steady in uncertainty. We don't need external validation to feel confident. We can be calm in a storm and create space to respond intentionally regardless of what's happening around us. Our team experiences us as grounded, clear and trustworthy which reinforces a sense of psychological safety.

Before the pace of the week takes over, pause and direct your attention to your feet.

Actually FEEL into the ground beneath you and notice how steady, supportive and unshaken it is. Sit with this awareness for a brief moment.

From this rooted place, allow this connection to anchor you in your purpose-centered intentions and empower you with clarity, confidence and calm presence.

Sometimes new beginnings invite us to take small yet courageous steps into the unknown...

Yes, the intersection of horses and leadership development may sound a bit unconventional at first—but in many ways, it’s anything but.

Horses are deeply wise, intuitive herd animals, and they have an incredible capacity to teach us about presence, authenticity, and the essence of effective leadership.

Through guided, ground-based interactions with horses (no riding involved), participants explore leadership presence, communication, and alignment between intention and action. Drawing on principles of biomimicry—learning from nature’s wisdom—leaders gain insight from the relational and team dynamics horses naturally model.

Unbridled Leadership: Igniting Your Inner Fire🔥 is an experience that promises to be a unique opportunity for leaders to take time to truly focus on leading with greater clarity, grounded courage, and intentional boldness.

We hope you take that brave step and join us! by @phd.noire
