A week at Kripalu with babygirl. We swam, went to a lot of yoga classes. Kayaked, read books, walked. Knitted (me). Got some singing out at a Kirtan (her). Spent 2 days in a deeply relaxing yoga nidra workshop (together). Laughed, ate well, rested. My intention: get my fire back. Did I? Not sure (don’t think so), but it’s ok. Maybe I’ve burned hot and brightly enough for long enough, and my purpose is different now? I’ll let you know if I figure that out.

Wish you were here. No, for real, I wish you could come here or go somewhere that lets you rest, receive nourishment, and remember who you are.🪷 taken in Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health by @phdknits

Mom and I got to meet Winnie the Pooh for Mother’s Day! I told him his mother must be so proud of him. (While we were at Disney, we also had a lil visit with my baby @_anna.maria13 who made me a mother.) by @phdknits

Finished this gorgeous #gracecowl made with @langyarns_official Grace (silk and cashmere). It’s the softest, dreamiest puff of happiness I’ve ever knitted.

Also, yes, I’m on a work trip and I’m as ridiculously tired as I look. Oddly, I’m not mad about it. Call it the magic of knitting, maybe? by @phdknits

Glad I got to bring this remarkable girl to this remarkable play before it closes Sunday. You can take it from here. by @phdknits

Consume art. Experience theater. Have the conversations. Gain context, give shape to your life and experiences. There’s so much to think about, so much to explore. Now more than ever.

I actually saw this one twice—once by myself then again a week later with my girl.

When we walked out, her first statement was “I really want to go to Malta.”

“Won’t you please, please tell me what we’ve learned?
I know it sounds absurd
Please tell me who I am
I said, now, watch what you say, they’ll be calling you a radical
A liberal, oh, fanatical, criminal”

Who decides (decided?) who’s white, with all unearned privileges appertaining to, in America, and what have racism and assimilation cost us? What have we lost in our fervor to establish and benefit from our “sameness?” by @phdknits

Of the infinite permutations and iterations that could have been, this is the only one that makes any sense, where these three humans exist and I get to be their mother. ❤️❤️❤️ by @phdknits

When your brilliant and beautiful almost adult daughter invites you to a play because she saw it and can’t imagine not sharing it with you, you SAY YES and marvel over how amazing it is to have a critical thinking, opinionated, astute human in your life❤️ by @phdknits

It’s even more fun when spouse/Dad is subbing in the orchestra (in a costume, on stage, with choreography) and we get to hear, in its proper context, what the trumpet has been yelling downstairs from my work-from-home desk all week 🫣 by @phdknits

When I visit my favorite city (Toronto), there’s a bookstore I adore — everything they sell is Toronto or Canada themed. Each visit, I buy a book by a Torontonian or Canadian author. This was my most recent selection, and it was a good one! The author presents the activity and basic act of walking through the lens of several social-ecological domains. I already loved my daily walks, but I love them more and have much to reflect upon after reading this book. by @phdknits
