i want to tell you something random

because i can…

sibboleth: this is the name that couldn’t be pronounced by some tribe of people.

after a conflict between the Gileadites and the Ephraimites, the Gileadites controlled the river crossings and used the word “Shibboleth” as a password.

the Ephraimites had a different accent and could not pronounce the “sh” sound properly. instead, they would say “Sibboleth.”

reminds me of yoruba people. 🌝

i think the people that think life is complex need to realize life is actually simple, and the people that think life is simple need to realize that life is complex.

i love these people here- the ones you see, and the ones you don’t see.

french has a word that barely exists in any other language: "dépaysement."

life has a way of stripping you off the filters you’ve built your identity on(the titles you carried like armor, the noise you mistook for purpose, the expectations you wore like a second skin), until you’re left standing face-to-face with something unfiltered.

truth.

the kind that whispers that so much of what we chase, build, and perform is… vanity.

maybe not meaningless, but temporary, not empty, but not ultimate. i’ve found peace in this non-performative truth.

i’m learning to no longer chase and sell dream catchers but instead offer something far less polished, and more truthful. nothing special, just… different.

i’m celebrating this difference. not a decorated filtered life, but a life grounded in truth that reminds me everything fades, except what is rooted in God. And I hope my identity here continues to reflect this for the rest of my days.

when the rest of my days comes to an end, I’ll fearlessly accept the grim reaper choice, whether it’s a grave or a pearly gate, he gon’ have to move anyway. by @phebe.medon
