Bhíodh neart deiseanna agam mar gheall ar an teanga, dhá phost, neart cairde, leabhar scríofa agam agus bheith ar an teilifís agus an raidió san áireamh. Thosaigh mé ag foghlaim leis An Cumann Gaeilge @cumanngaelachqub nuair a bhí mé ar ollscoil agus ansin le Turas @belfastturas agus @androichead agus ní riamh ach fáilte curtha romham. 10 years ago I hadn’t a word of Irish, and now I have an A at A Level in it. I wouldn’t have thought that would happen 10 years ago. I’ve had loads of opportunities because of the language, including 2 jobs, lots of friends, writing a book and being on the tv and radio! I started learning with An Cumann Gaelach when I was at university and then with Turas and An Droichead and was nothing but welcomed. by @phil_hoy

Had a class time at NYC Eurasia in Madrid, over 300 young people from all over Europe and Asia, old friends and new. From learning greetings in Arabic to singing Rattlin’ Bog at 2am to serving in the snack shack and the music team, somewhere in that collage and mosaic of people was a snapshot of the Kingdom of God, where everyone is welcome at the table regardless of language or country or background

Pascha (Death is Destroyed)

I wrote this song last Easter, bit different to my usual songs. Lyrics are based very closely on St. John Chrysostom’s Paschal Homily (Easter Sermon). Happy Easter!

Verse 1

If any have fasted, If any have failed;

A song inspired by Seamus Heaney and the Magnificat

“History says, don’t hope
On this side of the grave.
But then, once in a lifetime
The longed-for tidal wave

Every day
we look away
With empty hearts at empty plates,
war and genocide and hate
and I think how
can we allow
for this to continue on,
just ignore it til they’re gone?

disappointment all the time?

that another world is possible
through Love divine
that it doesn’t have to always be this way
