september 2026 / part iii: a recap

all caught up
September zoomed past sooo fast. I guess that’s what happens when you’re booked and busy, for the most part. 🫩🥹
1-2. down at our fav spot for dinner, catching up with @traceycey_ over Vietnamese food have always been tea! 🤭 I wasn’t very hungry that day so I switched it up from my usual pho order to com tum (broken rice).
3. a little bts of the boys by the beach- stay tuned for official photos soon 😌
4-5. first catch up with colleagues from the other store over pho (2 nights in one week at the same spot 🤭) & of course, Cafe Guilty Pleasure for some sweet treats. took us AGES to decide what to order but glad we decided on the tiramisu bing su & the matcha honey toast 😋
6. always spotting @justcallmemide in various platforms - from PSA website to Code of Ethics 🙌🏻
7-8. finally binged watch Love Algorithm with @zhen_jamin . Twas an interesting take but could relate to the whole misunderstandings & conflicts that tear friendships and love apart, but always holding out hope that there would be a reunion again. heart-warming, beautiful cinematography & very short episodes 🫣
9-10. watched as @sanchai95 walked her graduation just last night (talk about ending the month with a bang). proud of you and of your valedictorian speech 🫶🏻 taken in Boorloo by @philemon_kho

september 2026 / part i: a recap

1-2. I’ve said it when I posted it but I’ll say it again:
jumping on a live with @zhen.ningg & @jackgohr on a random evening was not in my books for 2026 but I’m grateful it happened. I was the last person to go on live with them, even when I felt the chance was thinning but I’m glad I sent the request & Ning accepted it 🫶🏻 from one Phil to another, thank you, Ning 🫶🏻 thank you for the love and warmth, @jackgohr . and thank you @liam_estlife for taking a screenshot. I was too shocked, too in the moment and wanted to just be present that I didn’t take a screenshot or anything hahaha
3. back to fashion school for a day. went for their annual fabric sale. walked down the halls and immediately PTSD of day in day out being there and sewing our collection and deadlines 🥲
4-6. finds in Vic Park. a spontaneous craving for noodles at Yip, a Kampua car plate & a Derpy plushie 👉🏻👈🏻
7. I tried PhiCha in Northbridge after a day of work & sadly it didn’t hit the spot. 🥲
8-10. a new op shop in Cannington & I couldn’t help myself but to go for a visit. I spontaneously messaged @joeleany as she lived nearby & so glad we met up. I upgraded from the small basket to a push & pull trolley basket 🤣 a lot of good deals that day. also spotted a melamine tingkat set in blue, but I knew it wasn’t something I would be using much; would’ve much rather have it on the shelf as a display. and if you think I’m crazy with my op shop finds, Jo bought 3 appliances that day- an aesthetic slow cooker, a transparent air fryer & a gorgeous vintage stand mixer.
11. after hitting 10 op shops that day (covering Cannington and Vic Park area), I hadn’t eaten all day so settled on this Hainanese chicken chop with fried rice at Yum Yum Tree. I wanted seconds 🤤 taken in Boorloo by @philemon_kho

august 2026 / part xv: a recap

golden jubilee 🙌🏻
1 -3. celebrated mum and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary with my sister and my personal touch with the cake decoration (hunting down the decor & a quick assemble). can’t forget our other queen- Eva with her own crown 👑
4. almost nightly chats with this one, over everything and also nothing sometimes 🤭 bual kosong 🤭
5. childhood seafood noodles- another visit to the store and the shop owners still remember me after all this years.
6. beef noodle soup
7. afternoon with Merv over some black tea & pastries
8. one last mee pok in red for supper
9. an op shop day find with a Twinkle Star plushie
10-12. wanted to have physical evidence of how hazy Kuching was, on the days when it was in the API of like 500+, and that was on the last few days I was there. it was INSANE. imagine a permanent fog day in and day out.
13. no parking, no problem. only in Malaysia? 🫩 this was a car, parked on top of the patch of grass of a roundabout 🤭
14-15. Iliya came to find me, as always, when I landed in KL. spent the usual 1.5 hours to catch up and be with each other again, before I go back to Perth. clearly splurged a little on Hirono in a dinosaur suit. it was sooo soft though.
16. midnight flight back to Perth was delayed by 2 hours because a bird decided to get stuck in the engine. we were already boarding when we got told to go back to our departure lounge to wait. 🫩 taken in Kuching, Sarawak. 古晋 by @philemon_kho

august 2026 / part xiv: a recap

surprise 🫶🏻
surprised my parents for their anniversary in late August, planned it at least for the last half of the year ever since family kept mentioning about their golden jubilee (50th) wedding anniversary. it was priceless to see their face as confused as they were. sorry, mum and dad, but also love youuuu
1. arrived in the morning with my sister picking me up from the airport & we headed home because we needed to pick our parents up to head for Eva’s (niece) birthday later that morning as well
2. a little cutesy trendy moment 🤭
3-8. Eva’s 1st birthday celebration, with broccoli cake because that’s her current obsession. She also had her Zhua Zhou (抓周), a first birthday Chinese tradition where the child grabs symbolic items to predict their future career & personality. for those who know what she grabbed, shhhh. for those who don’t, stay tuned 🤭
9-10. breakfast with the love birds at our green noodle place 😘
11. round 2 of breakfast with family
12. cute find at the thrift shop
13-14. jelly bean curd to cool down (always love some taro balls) & some Sugarbun because no where else has it. And that’s on Sarawakian pride.
15-16. night out with Brian & Cynthia. checking out the new Lek space.
17. just a child trapped in adult body. sue me 🤣 got the Saja Boys tee because it was only RM29. taken in Kuching, Sarawak. 古晋 by @philemon_kho

august 2026 / part xiii: a recap

10 days retreat
1-3. back in Perth for just 10 days before another trip. made the most of it by hanging out with @perthtobkk eating at Little Bangkok at Carousel. always a good spread of food. tried out bits and pieces of their new menu. loved the salmon sashimi carpaccio & their Corona slushie 😛
4-5. came back also for Tash’s homecoming after spending a year in Yogyakarta & Singapore (?). her and her outdoor bbq are the bomb. and always being a menace with Syaz, being the two oldest ones there 🤣
6-8. @kifusim came to visit so made it out to @geminicafeperth for brunch. the filo pastry was amazing, along with their cute bear matcha drinks. you get to keep the bears that comes with the drink!
9. noodle cravings with Tony satisfied at the Chinese noodle place in Northbridge. look at how excited he is to dig in!
10. capybara blowing gum
11-12. caught @nnaavviirrnnyyaaaa for a dinner catch up after a year being away & before the both of us jetted off to our own adventures again. dumplings and dessert at Messina was chef’s kiss
13. a little bit of Bali at Hope Op Shop
14-15. housemate date with @hello.there.matty at Juicy Bao Bao. I had steamed dumplings with siew mai & a char siew bao. needless to say, I was hungry!
16. present hunting for Eva (my niece) turned into a mini shopping trip for myself instead. I mean, look at Sulley! what counts as a good present is the one you’d want it for yourself, right? 🤣
17. another noodle night with Tony. was a bit of a let down because the broth felt a bit washed down. :3
18. the craziest fight for a @lykn_official concert ticket and I lost the fight TWICE, even after they released a third show because of how fast the first 2 shows were sold out 😔 taken in Boorloo by @philemon_kho

august 2026 / part xiii: a recap

home away from home
1-3. we really don’t meet up often enough in Perth that our side quest led us to meet up in KL instead @sanchai95 🤭🤭 congrats on winning your division of the ice skating competition 🙌🏻
4-10. Ancestors of the Future- a joint exhibition of both Sarawak & Sabah indigenous people showcasing their culture and efforts in preservation through various art (poetry, music, design, food, spices, etc). it was a trip back to Kuching with some words from the music and poetry to the kek lapis for me. I sat by the kek lapis table, slowly devouring the cakes as I admire the crowd trickling in.
11-12. Iliya brought me to one of the best noodle houses that he’s been wanting to show me. the ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, with the hearty savoury broth and pairing it with our own choices of side dishes. it was very yum! would come again 🍜
13-15. a little R&R on one of the last few days in KL. haven’t had the chance to swim in the pool yet so I thought I’d seized the chance and the view.
16-17. en route back to Perth as always, in my newly thrifted top & my knee high boots. got asked if I was a designer by an auntie flying in to Perth to be there for her daughter 🥹 taken in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by @philemon_kho

august 2026 / part xii: a recap

a night with Clinton
it’s been a long time coming that I finally made it to a @clintonjeromechua show and this time, after the hustle and bustle of KLFW earlier in the day, all of us (Clinton, Iliya and I) were still in our outfits from the morning 🤭 blessed to be able to catch your show finally and sit and bask in your vocals for the night, especially when you sang one of your own originals.
Sips was a busy vibe with everyone caught up in their own little world but the ambiance was fun and so was the team that served us. thank you for the hospitality and grateful for the people we met that night. not to mention an old schoolmate who shouted us a couple of wine to wind down for the night. 🤭 by @philemon_kho

august 2026 / part xi: a recap

day offs from KLFW
in between KLFW, we had some spare days that was free and easy. Iliya had to go to work while I kinda figured out my day, filling them with itineraries to wander & mostly thrift
1. morning stop at Bang Bang at Plaza Sungei Wang. had to take a video of this gorgeous rainbow light mirror
2. grabbed a bite of what was called “Sarawak mee” but have never had anything like it in my life. posted on my story and people tell me it’s Hakka noodles.
3-9. other spots I checked out was Refash at Sungei Wang, Mono Loop at Amcorp (for all your vintage watch options), & Rex KL.
10. pit stop at a cheap cendol place outside Rex KL to refresh myself after a long hot day
11. got recommended @gelulu._.gelato for some homemade gelato deliciousness. had their sticky rice gelato that had gula Melaka & pieces of glutinous rice to chew on
12. dinner was lala noodles that I was craving for
13. Looop store at TTDI- have been seeing these macrame bags on trend
14-16. Refash flagship store

august 2026 / part ix: a recap

KLFW Day 7: Hatta Dolmat (closing show)
celebrating @hattadolmat_ ‘s 20 years in Malaysia’s fashion industry, he featured 2 segments to the night. one was ready-to-wear and the other was couture, including special performances by Ning Baizura @ningdalton
I really loved the couture segment of the show, not because of the theatrics and dramatics of it, but it was like watching actual drawings come to life. the actual drawings were hung around the runway, which you can catch glimpses of them throughout the video. everyone at the show was playing “which look is which drawing?” and “which look will be next?”

dancing with Kak Ning was not in my books this year but it happened! omg @ningdalton
not to mention the continuous banter towards the end of the night with @ceddyornot - which Iliya is still needing those pants so he can have the matching sets together puh-leaseeee
meeting @byrazin_ who walked the runway for Hatta for the closing show, who is such a sweet person- or in my words- “such a precious person that you’d just want to protect at all cost” 😂 literally just the nicest and respectful person 🫰🏻

cute little bts of us before the show, having our films taken at the Isetan pop up & meeting @aimanrisz & @_lyricxl_ , the cutest friendly duo 🫶🏻

30 mins mug stayed on pretty well for the night and I couldn’t be prouder. looking back at the cute momentos (like the guy taking a Polaroid photo of us and just giving it to us for free & the Isetan photos), not to mention @skin1004malaysia ‘s gift bags for Hatta’s show were divine. I only kept this box of 4 ampoules though because I feel like I needed them most.

august 2026 / part viii: a recap

KLFW Day 7: Radzuan Radziwill
@radzuanradziwillofficial always wows the runway with fantastic prints and great play with textures, colours and silhouettes. a full blown playful and colourful collection, which inspired me to wear a bolder colour for the show & of course it reminded me of @camillawithlove so I had to wear her to embody the vibe of the show

could not resist having @magnum ‘s new pistachio ice-cream, especially with the both of us wearing green on the day.

a quick bite at a sushi train before we went home to rest & get ready for the closing show for #KLFW26

KLFW Day 7: Private Stitch
@privatestitch featured all things gentleman club. loved the iconic hats mixed with classic and modern silhouettes for the collection
@neonate.company featured @aisharetno02 to start us off with some powerful belts and sultry runs before the show. the collection was based off local markets and what people there were wearing. I especially loved the street vibes that each outfit carried and also liked the knitted bag baklava
