Studio Announcement Post 1 of 3:

I’m extremely proud and relieved to announce we have finally finished building my new recording studio. Every single step of this project has had the utmost attention to detail and care put into it. There was never a single moment where quality was sacrificed to make a step easy or less expensive and despite every challenge that presented itself, Philia Audio is now available to be booked for your next music release (tracking, mixing, mastering).

I’d like to thank my contractor @ted_vader for working so closely with me during this project, as each step was usually much harder and physically demanding than any usual renovation. I appreciate you in turn teaching me parts of your craft and allowing me to fully be involved and to grow with this buildout.

Thank you to MVAV Consultants for working so closely with my Dad and I to optimize the balance of the room’s acoustics. This step was truly a sizable undertaking, and you were there to help us fully realize the sheer quality we could achieve with this room and mixing area (drums sound amazing).

Special thanks to my Dad @dave65must for sacrificing a lot of his free time these past two years to help me push through every project that was started on the studio and my house. I’m very thankful for you.

Special thanks to @kcrummett for mastering the first track I ever recorded and engineered here, for having unwavering patience as I asked just about every single possible question about a build like this, and for helping me realize I needed to take this journey. As well as @stephanhawkes for also being there to help me spec out my studio, troubleshoot so many gear things, and for being extremely generous with his time as I strived to become a better engineer while working with him. There are so many reasons why these two dudes are the best mastering engineers, so please work with them!

Additional thank yous to my friends and family for all your support and for making all the these things come together, I could not have done it without you. @terri_tiger1 @shaunahundeby @john_pat_chap @riffraff0g @campbellmitchell42 @vicdroze

Arms: Florida Chaotic Metalcore Band Teams with Arsonists Get All the Girls Singer on New Track

Paul Hundeby founded Orlando-based Arms as a project to explore his love of bands like Botch, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Converge.

Though the first releases were solo projects, momentum kept building, and Arms is now a full band. But as the band has grown, the world has continued its descent into chaos.

Their latest single, “In a Glass Cage,” captures the group at the apex of their power and features a guest contribution from Sean Richmond of Arsonists Get All the Girls. The song combines the frenetic violence of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Under the Running Board EP with the grinding, berserker shriek of Converge’s Jane Doe. Yet the song also has a quick, few-measure dynamic break in the middle that almost hints at Deftones or Team Sleep. The respite is short-lived before the chaos regains its foothold.

Vocalist Paul Hundeby says “In a Glass Cage” comes from the point where survival instinct begins to feel more honest than playing by society’s rules, particularly when those rules are being exploited by the people expecting you to follow them.

“They expect decency to function as a leash, believing that you’ll remain bound by the conventions they’ve already abandoned,” he explains. “If someone has decided that your goodwill is something they can exploit, then survival of the fittest begins to feel less like a moral failure and more like the only remaining language they understand.”

That idea also explains the deliberately exaggerated violence running through the song. “The traps, the noose, the violence, the blood, all of it becomes an inversion of the restraint that was expected of you,” Hundeby says. “By the end, the narrator isn’t asking permission anymore.” taken in Orlando, Florida by @philiaaudio
