"I take the white pearl..." - What happens behind a door you’ve never opened? The series “Behind the Green Doors” is now published as special feature in Theosis, Harvard’s CSWR Year in Review, with a beautiful text by Gosia Sklodowska.
One courtyard, many green doors, a whole world behind each one.
Behind one of them, I found Jane Sheldon, an opera singer and composer, who had worked on the pearl book project (first drawing).
From there, circles started to appear everywhere: the stove top where we cooked, the labyrinth in front of the Harvard Divinity School, the washing machines in the laundry room with its round eyes, where the living community met while waiting for their laundry.
What universe did the fellows of the Center for the Study of World Religions (CSWR) at Harvard bring with them? During our stay, I drew my encounters with them from memory, trying to hold on to the magical sensation of meeting someone for the first time.

A drawing to my strange relationship with mothers day. It’s complicated, as it is highly promoted and commercialised, as it creates expectations and a business. Every line tells a story, every gesture connects us. A commission for 13 doors for CWSR at Harvard, which keeps me busy. “Thinking outside the box” is not the same as “Being outside the box”. There is one level of protection in my drawing, which is though transparent. I am feeling naked, being confronted with life and its challenges. Daily, threatening world news hide the beauty, the pleasure and love for perceiving the world. It is getting hard to use social media and not feeling betrayed. Visibility and visualisation seem like to words in the same mirror.
