Vivo Las Vegas!

Words can’t truly express how grateful I am for being able to of had this crazy beautiful challenging experience I just had in running “barefoot” for 350 miles from LA to LV!

When I first heard about this event last year what instantly drew me in wasn’t just the challenge, instead it was the joy and connection of doing it with a team.

After throwing out my crazy idea to my coworkers at @vivobarefoot it slowly started to come to life week by week.

I can honestly say in this moment I’m so damn thankful for every single person who played a part in making this experience even more magical than I could have ever envisioned.

This did not happen because of me, it happened because of all of us as a team coming together equally for a common goal of having an amazingly unique life experience.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart as I write this from the after party with tears in my eyes behind my sunglasses. I love you all so damn much!

Decided to let my light shine today and share my new Commercial Reel.

So recently I came across this movie when I had Covid called Coach Carter and it had this quote that really made me start re-examining how I’ve been showing up in the world as of late.

It said, “As we let our own light shine we consciously give other people permission to do the same.”

Honestly for most of this year perhaps I’ve done a bit more hiding then shining, which maybe isn’t necessarily bad because during my “hiding” I was shining in other ways, but the thing is I knew deep down I had a lot more to give that I wasn’t letting out.

It’s funny how we often hold back from sharing our light at times, whether it’s because we don’t feel like what we have to give matters or if it just feels like we are being conceited or arrogant in some sort of way.

However what I’ve come to realize is that sharing is a form of building connection that inspires others, and there is absolutely nothing wrong taking pride in what you’ve created, learned, or worked towards!

I’m not going to lie I’m proud and very thankful for this body of work that you see in this reel. All of it came from being completely open, not being afraid to fail, working hard, and not giving up.

I knew nothing about this industry 6 years ago and often still feel like I don’t know what I’m doing, but if I could create a new light to shine then you can too however that might look!

#shineyourlight

Full Quote:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. You playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.” by @philipanthonymangan

Just because things didn’t turn out how you thought they would doesn’t mean they didn’t turn out!

When I signed with my first agency I walked out of their office in Times Square and proclaimed what I desired.

Five and a half years later that desire came true by getting on a billboard in Times Square!

Now maybe it’s just my backside and maybe in the grand scheme of life it’s not really a big deal, but I will use this moment as a reminder of what is possible!

A big thank you to @fentonmodels , @winnie_travel_co and the entire team that was put together for this shoot, it was truly a blessing to work with all of you! by @philipanthonymangan

NYC Marathon Week.

On one of the most exciting weeks of the year in the city, we brought our community together through shakeout runs, pre-race prep panels and post-race recovery alongside our friends @goodpainathletics and @1441collective

With our new flagship store open in SoHo, we’re building deeper roots in New York and creating more ways to bring people together through movement.

Giving growth.

When talks amongst friends started about doing the Chicago triathlon this year, I couldn’t help to instantly think “but I already did it”.

Honestly I’m usually enticed by new adventures / challenges, and frankly this one just seemed to be the opposite as I originally completed it 4 years ago.

So when considering this experience the question wasn’t if I could do it, but instead could I find a reason to give me enough drive to do it again.

Enter my reason….giving someone else the gift of growth.

On a Canadian backpacking trip last year one of our guides told us how every year him and his partner get each other birthday gifts that push the other person to grow.

At the time I just had entered into a new relationship, and this was the vibe I really wanted to incorporate into it.

The thing that I liked most about the idea though was the intention put forth behind picking the right thing, and then doing it together to support the other person.

So when I got back I pitched my partner the idea, and she was open to it which was all I needed to hear to give me go ahead.

Long story short as @alyssanjenks birthday approached I thought this former athlete with a swimming background would relish in the challenge of a triathlon.

And her genuine excitement when I told her what I signed her up not only solidified that, but instantly brought new life into this experience for me as I shifted into the “supporter” position.

Over the next 3 months as we trained I watched her slowly start blossoming in ways I had yet to see before, which only grew my attraction to her.

Even witnessing her excitement & positivity on the morning of the event, in the midst of battling food poisoning for a week, was a true testament of who she is as a person.

And I couldn’t have been more proud of her as she crossed the finish line like a warrior who just got back from battle, with tears in her eyes and nothing left in the tank, as in that moment I knew she would never forget who she became in this process.

In the end I feel like I really wasn’t the giver in this experience, as the gift of connection I received from this is far greater than I could have ever imagined. by @philipanthonymangan

Some adventures change your perspective.

The destination is great, but it’s usually everything that happens on the way there that you’ll remember.

Get outside more. Chase the views. Pack light. And remember wherever the trail goes, NADS goes under. by @philipanthonymangan

Less, but more impactful.

Like most people I have this deep desire to feel all I can feel from this life.

And honestly the more I do / experience, especially the stuff that really makes me feel (like putting myself in the discomfort zone), the more I crave it.

However, I’ve started to realize recently just how important feeling “the in-between” plays a role in allowing me to feel more.

I’m talking about the in-between point where your high starts to die down, and you’re constantly searching for something to do next to make you feel that way again.

Well the thing is if you’re always quickly jumping into the next thing, you’re not fully absorbing the feelings from the previous thing, nor are you allowing yourself to be present to build a deeper connection to the next thing.

So long story short, my aura is less, but more impactful experiences like this one right here.

This whole experience came into fruition from a seed that was planted a year ago, and then me being still enough to allow it to grow into alignment.

7 days, no work, no screens, just out in nature, doing something challenging, with good people, building deeper connections, and feeling all the feelings!

Now, this may be an unpopular opinion in this quick moving and doing world, but I honestly don’t see the point of doing something to just say I did it, instead it’s whole heart or nothing for me.

A massive thank you to everyone who made this trip possible, and who came along for the adventure!

BEYOND RUNNING PODCAST
Episode 47: “Between Peaks and Presence” with Leslie Vallecillo, Josh Holland and Philip Mangan

In this episode of the Beyond Running Podcast, Manuel “Eme” Morato (@ememorato ) sits down with Leslie Vallecillo (@lesss.getfit ), Josh Holland (@joshuajholland ), and Philip Mangan (@philipanthonymangan ) to revisit an unforgettable expedition through the wild landscapes of British Columbia. The group, supported by @vivobarefoot , was dropped deep into the backcountry by helicopter and set out to hike ten peaks in minimalist shoes, an experience that pushed their physical, mental, and emotional boundaries while deepening their connection to nature and one another.

Together, they reflect on what it means to move through the world with intention and awareness, stripped down to the essentials. Each guest shares what the journey revealed to them about endurance, trust, and the power of collective experience. The conversation also touches on the upcoming documentary “Feel The Earth”, that captures their adventure: an intimate portrayal of both the challenge and the beauty found in reconnecting with the wild.

This episode is both a reflection and a teaser: a glimpse into an expedition that became more than a physical test, it became a lesson in humility, presence, and the profound sense of belonging that emerges when humans return to the rhythms of the Earth.

To be honest this one hit different……and in the end it wasn’t because of the challenge that I faced, but perhaps more so because of the perspective I embraced.

I’d have say in roughly the last decade or so I’ve slowly grown into a person who constantly searches for new ways to push himself outside his comfort zone because I know its not only where the growth lies, but its also where I feel most alive.

So naturally when receiving the opportunity to take on a challenge of this magnitude I was hopeful for the same thing. And to be honest I even tried to ensure that it was as I pushed for a longer harder route at the very early stages of the planning.

However, as I started building this dream team (which basically involved trying to convince people to say YES to something absolutely crazy without giving too much info away), I slowly began to feel a shift inside me.

This shift was away from being focused on my own potential growth experience, and instead more so on really wanting to give others a powerful one.

I’m not going to lie though, this shift came with weight as I felt this underlying pressure to make sure I didn’t let the entire team down, and not have this experience just be something we all survived.

Well long story short, when we finally got dropped off from the helicopter in the middle of nowhere and shit got real I saw what is truly possible when people don’t just SAY YES, but when they EMBRACE YES.

I saw this group of individuals from all different backgrounds show up for themselves and come together to support each other in the most beautiful way possible.

And I saw myself smiling like a proud dad whose kids are not only getting along, but are growing up right in front of his eyes.

This wasn’t just survival, this was true connection……..to ourselves, to each other, and to the earth.

From the bottom of my heart I cannot thank each and everyone one of you enough for touching my heart and for trusting myself, @vivobarefoot and @airelibre.earth to take this leap of faith.

YOU ALL AMAZE ME!!! by @philipanthonymangan

Running down a dream.

For months leading up to @thespeedproject I often envisioned being out in the middle of no where just running in the elements.

And whenever I spoke with my friend / coach @joshuajholland about this he equally shared my enthusiasm for having that experience.

So when the opportunity came for us to do one of the harder sections together we not only embraced the challenge, but savored it.

To sum it up we got lost and it got a bit sketchy, but at least we were together. And once we found our way, we most definitely took our time to soak in the views, model flex, as well as just embrace our slogan “run slow”, especially on those sandy hills.

It was honestly one of the most memorable moments for me on the trip, and we were fortunate to have one of my best friends there @_iannichols there to document it all 📸.

I’m honestly thankful for these two people who both want to experience life outside of the comfort zone and make me a better man because of it.

Can’t wait to keep running down more dreams with you guys!

Lastly, big shoutout to @skyandsolco for the sun protection in these elements as I would have came back the same color of my shirt if it wasn’t for your support!
