My heart was broken yesterday when I heard that @catsjellicleball will be closing in just a few weeks. I’ve seen it three times (traveling from Hawai’i to do so) and think it is the most exciting, inspiring, and joyful Broadway experience I can ever remember having. The cast members probably think I’m a stalker because I follow them all on social media and comment on all their posts and send them gifts and messages. I am not a stalker but I am OBSESSED. I love you all for your heart and your talent and your generosity. My heart goes out to the cast and crew and creatives who work so hard and so conscientiously to make this magic happen over and over again, only to be silenced. I cried at my desk for 20 minutes yesterday when I heard the news, mostly for the cast, crew, and creatives, but also for the friends who have heard me obsess about it and will never get to see it. And for all the people who need this musical and will never see it. And for me because, despite having seen it three times already, I’m not done with it. Please, @andrewlloydwebber, fund a cast recording. We NEED a cast recording. This revolutionary production NEEDS to be preserved. #jellicleballcastrecording by @philipbikes

Nineteen years ago, at 10:00 in the morning, we had our commitment ceremony under the embrace of this lovely monkeypod tree on the lawn of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens. We shared the morning with family and friends and it was a lovely, charming day; it couldn’t have been more perfect. Still the best “wedding” I’ve ever been to.
