Last night, the voters of San Francisco placed their trust in me, and I am deeply grateful and humbled by that confidence.

Serving as President of the San Francisco Board of Education has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Over the past year and a half, we have faced significant challenges as a district—from fiscal uncertainty to declining enrollment to the urgent need to improve outcomes for our students. Through it all, I have remained focused on what matters most: ensuring every student has access to an excellent public education.

I want to thank the voters of San Francisco, my campaign team, volunteers, supporters, friends, family, and my partner Andrew and our dog Noe for their unwavering encouragement throughout this campaign.

I also want to thank my fellow candidates for their willingness to serve our city. Public service is not easy, and anyone who steps forward to lead deserves our respect.

The work begins again today. Our students cannot wait. We must continue strengthening our schools, supporting our educators, improving student outcomes, restoring long-term financial stability, and rebuilding trust with families and communities across San Francisco.

Thank you for your trust. I look forward to continuing this work together. by @philkimsf

“San Francisco sets the tone for what it means for our country to act in a more inclusive, more equitable way,” Phil Kim, the city’s school board chair, told me. “That has always been San Francisco’s story.”

It’s election night, and I’m reflecting on the incredible coalition that has powered this campaign.

From labor and families to educators and young people across the city, I am deeply grateful for the support of so many people who believe in strong public schools and a brighter future for San Francisco’s children.

Thank you to every organization, volunteer, supporter, and voter who has stood with us throughout this campaign.

It’s Election Day! Remember to get your ballots in by 8pm tonight by taking your ballot to City Hall, a drop box, or a polling place. Do NOT put your ballot in a normal USPS mailbox! Resources from @sfelections in bio.

We want to thank all the volunteers this election cycle. We appreciate all your hard work for our endorsed candidates and measures. Many are still getting out the vote up until the deadline of 8pm tonight. Then, many will have viewing parties.

Spent yesterday afternoon knocking doors in District 2 with Phil Kim, who’s running to keep serving on the SF school board.

We’re both fighting for the same thing: a San Francisco that families can actually afford, with public schools worth staying for. You can’t have one without the other.

In between doors, we traded stories about our favorite parts of campaigning so far. With 5 days left, every conversation counts!

Last month, I invited a group of school board Presidents and Vice Presidents from the 12 largest public school districts in the Bay Area to San Francisco. This was the first time we’ve come together independently in this way. I learned so much from my peers across the region—from Napa Valley to San Ramon to San Jose, and everywhere in between. Collectively, we represent over 300,000 students! Too often, we work in silos when there is so much opportunity to learn from and partner with one another.

We are building trust, alignment, and stronger regional relationships across districts. This convening reflects a growing recognition that no single district can solve our challenges alone. Strengthening relationships across districts improves our collective ability to advocate effectively, share solutions, and learn from one another’s experiences.

As school board leaders, we recognize the unique responsibility and opportunity we have to grow in our leadership and strengthen governance practices in service of students and communities.

I’m excited to continue building these relationships and advancing this regional collaboration. More to come! taken in San Francisco, California by @philkimsf

Grateful to receive the endorsement of the @bayareareporter Editorial Board!

“We understand that the San Francisco Unified School District is in a difficult position, like most school districts in the state. But we believe that Kim has been an excellent addition to the Board of Education and that voters should elect him in June to complete his term.” taken in Castro District, San Francisco by @philkimsf
