Silverpoint drawing on mixed media / collage, 12x18. I’m still feeling my way into this style, and there are a few things I’d have done differently while preparing the ground. But I’m digging this melting pot of a few favorite themes and mediums. A promising series!

“Leo at 19.5” is graphite on collaged ground. Still need to work on his body but that face… THAT FACE 🥹 - is done. We love our old-man-cat!

This is “Silverpoint Garbage No. 6” and is #silverpoint on paper. I love turning garbage into gold (OK, fine: silver) - art is alchemy! Also is there a more democratic still-life subject than NYC garbage bins? I don’t think so!

This garbage can lives IRL on the corners of 73rd and West End Avenue in #nyc. This is #silverpoint #drawing on clay coat #paper. Garbage is a strong muse. Garbage and the people who surround it. Not just because I’ve been living in this city for decades alongside huge amounts of trash; or because an environmental crisis is unfolding due to our collective wastefulness; also not just as jaded social commentary about where we are culturally; but as a metaphor for adoption and the transformative powers of art and focus.
