My Baba passed away yesterday. The most consistent and loving man I've ever known, never having much of anything but giving everything. Always so proud of all of his kids and grandkids. He had the kind of humility and grace that would have you sitting in reflective silence wondering how he could let you act a fool, and patiently wait for you to realize what you thought was so important was meaningless and not worth the energy of being upset over.
To sit back like that, to watch someone you love spin themselves up over something you can see so clearly doesn't matter , takes a kind of wisdom most of us never reach. He knew that you can't hand someone that kind of understanding. You can only love them through it until they find it themselves. So he waited. Never judging . Never , I told you so ,. Just patience, trusting that you'd get there when you got there. He never had much, so he wasn't confused about what was worth holding onto. It wasn't things. It was people. It was showing up, consistently, for decades, with the same steady love. That's why he could let you act a fool , because he knew the fool was temporary, and you were forever.
That kind of grace doesn't come from never being tested. It comes from being tested and choosing to be soft and kind anyway. Love you, dad, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Can’t wait for the reunion in the sky Babalu. by @philthy.golf

25 years ago We said we will never forget. I haven’t.
I remember exactly where I was. I heard on the Radio. A passenger jet had hit one of the towers. Something in me went cold before I had an understanding of what was happening . Then the second plane hit, and nobody had to explain it anymore.
2,977 lives.
When the first tower came down I felt it from the top of my head, through my chest, and out the soles of my feet , like thousands of souls cried out at once. If you were there, or you watched it live, you remember that feeling . Then the Pentagon. Then we heard the passengers on that last plane fought back before it went down. The day became so surreal. We didn’t know what was going to happen next. Weeks later.
Every house had a flag in the yard. We were united.
Today I walked this field. One flag for each life. When the reality of what that meant started to settle in. I had to shake my head. I wasn’t ready for that.
Some of us will never forget that morning. Some of us only know it from history.

A few months ago, I was asked to do the ceremony for my mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary. I was honored to do so. Today was a sweet day. Can anybody pick out my little mug in these pictures lol. by @philthy.golf
