Wasted day! Excitedly packed up truck this morning and headed to Mueller State Park (CO) for weekend of winter fun and snowshoeing! Tried calling the park couple times this morning, no one answered so figured they were all out plowing. Roads mostly ok until got past Woodland Park, then pretty slick and icy all the way to Mueller State Park entrance. Surprised there to only find one lane road going up into the park. Carefully followed it only to have it dead end at the park maintenance yard. Plowing staff there told us park was closed and days before they’d get cabin access opened. WTH – why didn’t someone contact us, or at least post park closed on website – nope, nothing, hours of our day wasted and driving time and stress for nothing! Phone staff weren’t much more helpful offering 50% refund and we can appeal to try to get the rest. OMG what a fubar! Back home now for staycation with yummy food, games and friends. Boo to State Parks! One person said they even asked bosses couple days ago if they shouldn’t reach out to upcoming cabin visitors?!
