Figuring things out as we go, but excited about the kinds of projects and people slowly finding their way to us.
Always happy to connect, collaborate, or talk about ideas and future projects.

Since most people outside of architecture don’t really know all the things architects can help with, here is what WE can help YOU with in Chile or Germany. taken in Santiago, Chile by @philybel

MARQUEE is a house that we are currently developing on a beautiful rural plot on the chilean coast, nearby Valparaíso.

This set of drawings are straight from the structural engineer, David Villalobos.

PEDRO, JUANA Y DIEGO

is our new sustainable prefab housing brand for temporary off-grid living. Three models (for now), one system — using prefab straw panels from a local manufacturer.

DIEGO is designed as a climatic shell: an outer layer that harvests heat depending on the climate zone, a prefab straw panel core, and an interior clay layer for thermal mass. Together they passively regulate temperature, warm in winter, cool in summer, without HVAC or expensive technology.

The interior is thought as one big blue piece of furniture. A small house 66m² that feels like a much larger house.

PEDRO, JUANA Y DIEGO

is a prefab catalogue we are working on for temporary off-grid living. Two models, one system - using prefab straw panels from a local manufacturer.

JUANA is composed of two modules. It can be built as a mirrored expansion of PEDRO or right from the start. Every module is pre-assembled off-site and shipped ready to go. Only the roof layer is added on site making the construction period much shorter than on a conventional house and thus more affordable.

Part II: JUANA 2x module.

Small but expandable and priced to compete with what’s already out there. A prefab alternative that doesn’t compromise on spatial quality and sustainability. Built to sit quietly in the landscape.

A generous open common space overlooking the beach and the ocean is shaped by zoning, floor area optimisation, orientation, and structural logic.

Designed according to Design for Disassembly principles, the project employs low-carbon materials such as prefab straw panels and timber throughout.

ALTZAIRUPEAN

„ALTZAIRUPEAN“ borrows its imaginary from the rich architectural heritage of Vizcaya. A timber structure and steel cones meet the ground floor of a traditional Basque Farmhouse read as an open-floor plan. The pavilion provides shelter from rain and wind while serving as a flexible venue for a variety of events. Every element is designed around standard material lengths and demountable connections, allowing for easy disassembly and reuse after the festival.

Congrats to the winning proposal 👏

MARQUEE was designed through structure and climate.
Within the process two memories popped up in our mind, these among others for us now conform part of its visual imaginary.
The first, is a schinkel interior we adore.
The second, a memory from a ferry we once boarded

The entrance to the house is from below via a capsule serving as a climate threshold (in southern chile “chiflonera” in german “windfang” in english “vestibule”)

MARQUEE has a catenary-shaped roof that helps collect water. Its winter garden, together with stone floors and fiber cement boards, provides thermal mass and high thermal inertia, helping to harness heat and create a comfortable interior climate without relying on technology. All spaces are naturally ventilated through cross ventilation.

In Germany, among many other things, we learned a lot about building in context and working with existing structures. Since we are developing this house in the middle of nowhere, we found climate (sun, wind, water…) topography and ecology to be our context.

MARQUEE is developed from a single structural element copied and pasted eight times. A wintergarden acts as a climate buffer, reducing operational energy demand.
